About Stan Wong Photography

I predominantly shoot weddings, concerts, and corporate events, but also do family portraits and website photos.

My past clients have included Novartis Vaccines, Gilead Sciences, Genentech, ClearChannel Communications (Wild 94.9, Star 101.3, 106 KMEL, 98.5 KFOX), CBS Radio (Movin' 99.7), Entercom Communications (96.5 KOIT), Complex Magazine, Broadcom Corporation, and KTNC Estrella TV.

With any project, I like to talk about its scope and then develop an appropriate quote. Depending on the project, digital files are usually available.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. When hiring a photographer, I would ask who will be the actual photographer on the day of the shoot. Do not assume the person you are speaking to during the interview process is the one that will show up to shoot your photos. Sometimes, the company will send someone else.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. If you are looking for a wedding photographer, it is helpful to know what your budget is and what the wedding date is. Without these two pieces of information, you may spend time speaking to photographers who aren't even available on your event date or are out of your budget.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I enjoy most the feeling of appreciation that comes with a photo project well done. I can't begin to tell you how good it feels when a newlywed couple is so excited to share their photos with their friends and family. It lets me know that I'm doing good work in capturing their memories.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. One time I was shooting the Wild 94.9 Comedy Jam (a comedy concert where multiple comedians would perform on the same night) and Dave Chappelle was on stage. In between telling a few jokes, he paused to think of his next joke and saw me at the front of the stage taking his picture. Let's just say, he incorporated me into his comedy act by asking me a question while about 20,000 people in the audience waited for me to respond. I wanted to crawl under a rock. And that is how Dave Chappelle and I shared a moment....LOL

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. It started in high school with me wanting to take my own photos of Bay Area athletes so that I could use them to get autographs of my favorite players. After learning how to do this, I figured out that I could capture human motion in general. This led to shooting other things such as dancing during a friend's wedding and kids playing. When people liked what they saw in my photos, I realized there might be a future in this.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I recently shot a 30th Birthday Party for a previous Bride (client) of mine. Five years ago, much of her wedding day did not turn out the way she had planned (DJ didn't show up; her bouquet did not look like what she had ordered, etc.) so she vowed to make up for it with her 30th Birthday Party. She hired me again and this time the party was a huge success!

I was happy to know that she enjoyed and remembered my work from her wedding enough to hire me again five years later.
