FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It started in high school with me wanting to take my own photos of Bay Area athletes so that I could use them to get autographs of my favorite players. After learning how to do this, I figured out that I could capture human motion in general. This led to shooting other things such as dancing during a friend's wedding and kids playing. When people liked what they saw in my photos, I realized there might be a future in this.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently shot a 30th Birthday Party for a previous Bride (client) of mine. Five years ago, much of her wedding day did not turn out the way she had planned (DJ didn't show up; her bouquet did not look like what she had ordered, etc.) so she vowed to make up for it with her 30th Birthday Party. She hired me again and this time the party was a huge success! I was happy to know that she enjoyed and remembered my work from her wedding enough to hire me again five years later.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When hiring a photographer, I would ask who will be the actual photographer on the day of the shoot. Do not assume the person you are speaking to during the interview process is the one that will show up to shoot your photos. Sometimes, the company will send someone else.
