- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Special Launch Offer: 20% Off for My First Five Thumbtack Clients I’m offering introductory pricing for my first five Thumbtack clients across a range of portrait and photography sessions. Luxury Portrait Express — Starting at $375 45-minute portrait session for up to four people at one location. Signature Session — $875 Up to 2.5 hours at up to 2 locations. Half-Day Session — $2,270 Up to 4 hours at up to 2 locations. Full-Day Photography — $9,000 Full-day coverage for up to 40 people at up to 3 locations. All clients receive approximately 50–90 professionally finished digital photographs. Elevated sessions also include a fine-art print, professionally bound album, or photography book, depending on the package selected. For sessions over $2,000, I am happy to travel within approximately a two-hour radius, including destinations such as Santa Barbara and Orange County, subject to scheduling and location requirements. Sessions can be tailored for individual and family portraits, editorial photography, personal branding, fashion, corporate and executive portraits, special occasions, lifestyle imagery, and other bespoke commissions. With more than 20 years of experience as a studio, editorial and exhibiting photographer, my approach combines fine-art portraiture with polished commercial and cinematic photography. The first five clients who book through Thumbtack receive 20% off their selected package.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin with a brief phone consultation to discuss the type of session you’re looking for, locations, clothing and styling, and the overall look and feel you want to achieve. On the day of the shoot, I meet clients approximately 15 minutes before the scheduled start time so we can review the plan, make any final adjustments, and begin the session relaxed and prepared. For clients booking a Photography Tour package at $3,000 or above, we’ll plan the locations and route in advance and discuss transportation options between locations. For weddings, full-day celebrations, engagement photography, family groups, or other larger sessions, we’ll discuss locations, timing, the number of people being photographed, and any additional services you may want, such as fine-art prints, albums, photography books, additional locations, or extended coverage. My goal is to make the process easy, enjoyable and highly personalized while creating photographs that feel polished, natural and distinctive.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have formal training and a degree-level background in black-and-white photography, traditional darkroom printing, and photographic technique, combined with more than 20 years of professional experience as a working and exhibiting photographer. I shoot professionally in both color and black-and-white and prefer to work with natural light whenever possible, using available light to create authentic, dimensional and timeless images. I also work with professional lighting when the location, subject or assignment requires it. My experience spans portraiture, editorial and newsroom photography, documentary work, events, fashion, commercial assignments, restaurant and food photography, product photography, and fine-art photography. I have also worked extensively in professional media environments, where speed, composition, lighting, discretion, and the ability to capture decisive moments are essential. That combination of formal photographic training, artistic vision, and decades of real-world professional experience informs every session I shoot today.
