DJ Dan was awesome!!! Our party was a great success because he was our chosen DJ. He played music from play lists, from requests and watching the crowd he played what he felt would keep the party moving. Everyone loved him! His lights and set up were top notch! His pricing was great and he even worked with me on a solo project aside from the party. I would highly recommend DJ Dan and if he is available, he will always be my DJ of choice! THANK YOU DJ DAN!!
Clifford Lamb is a knowledgeable and talented piano teacher. He is a very patient and knows how to communicate musical concepts to both adults like me and to my teenage sons -- we're all intermediate players. Clifford's teaching methods incorporate a nice balance of music theory and practical technique. Clifford is a working musician and wants his students to learn theory so they begin to "think" like musicians so they can play in any key and not be slaves to a particular arrangement in a particular key. Highly recommended for both adults and teenagers.
Kelly played for my mom's memorial, including accompanying a vocalist. He made extra time for a rehearsal, was punctual, helpful, and friendly. All that and a fantastic pianist able to play anything. I give him my highest recommendation!
Amazing musician. We will hire agin for sure.
I have nothing but positive things to say about both Yaelisa and Jason and my experience with Caminos Flamencos. I have been taking flamenco guitar lessons with Jason for a bit over a year now. He is a master musician and his command of rhythm, technique, theory and harmony are second to none. Seriously, YouTube him and see for yourself! And just as important, he is a fantastic teacher. He really knows how to help you grow as a musician and reach your potential, and he cares about his students, so he's actually pushing you for your own good. Every session is a blast, always inspiring and I always come back improved from last time. I have also been accompanying some of Yaelisa's beginner / intermediate classes as a guitarist. The same values mentioned above for Jason apply to her as well (birds of a feather flock together!). She has amazing compás, and provides an incredibly solid foundation for her students, and for me, as a guitarist. She really cares about her students and it's been great to see students progress each week. I know my rhythm and ability to accompany has improved leaps and bounds thanks to her. I am getting an incredible foundation. Whether you're looking to begin your flamenco journey or take it to the next level, Yaelisa and Jason are your ticket!
Lessons with Jules are really fun...he has a lot of experience working with all genres of music and a super creative teaching style. As a professional musician, he gives really good advice when it comes to writing songs/performing/navigating the field of music. Everything is really clear and he is super nice!
A skilled and multi-talented musician, composer, and arranger, Jeffery has collaborated with me on a number of projects including notating some of my own pieces. I was extremely happy with the quality of his work. Additionally, he was the band leader and composer-in-residence for San Franciscos beloved Pickle Family Circus and consistently wrote music of great charm and invention. Highly recommended.
Matt is an incredible musician and teacher, and a wonderful person to know. He was able to meet me where I was at (some experience playing guitar but no formal training), assess what I wanted out of my lessons, and help me reach those goals in a way that was both fun and rigorous. I can't recommend him enough!
Tim played a solo set for my girlfriend and I on Valentine's Day. He was very accommodating and even went the extra mile to make sure our night was perfect. The music was perfect and Tim was extremely talented. I would highly recommend him and his band any time!
"I had guitar lessons with the Guitar Institute of Learning for a little over 3 years, and those years were the first 3 years I had in my experience of ever playing the guitar. I learned so much from my teacher. He taught me Jazz Standards, folk songs, and even things that were accommodated to my own interests as well! More importantly, I gained a life changing perspective from the songs, chords, melodies and harmonies that my teacher taught me. The concepts never get old. Guitar Institute of Learning does not just teach you how to play guitar, but how to practice it and how to become a great musician. It can be one thing to play an instrument, but to know how to play with other musicians requires a development of playing with others and applying your knowledge. Which is what guitar institute of learning can help you do. Everything I learned from GIOL literally changed my view and appreciation for music once I became more aware of the music world. I learned things that, once I looked back and realized what I was learning, I was so surprised and grateful that I was shown such great songs. I will always have a gratitude for the class and vast repertoire that they had opened me up to. As a musician, now playing guitar for 8 years, I would not be where I am today without those lessons. Knowing how important practicing everyday is, and finding how you define music will help you find an appreciation and motivation from and beyond these lessons." -Lawrence S. Abbott
I work with Paul on a regular basis, hiring him as a bassist for live performances and studio recording. He is very skilled on his instrument, he is always willing to work on songs and is very quick to pick up new material. He brings a lot to projects by way of his knowledge of various rhythm options and is a very patient and knowledgeable teacher in this regard. His work add a lot to the music we perform together. He is very professional about the work he does too. His replies are always super prompt, which is much appreciated when it comes to organizing music related jobs.
Hugo and his fellow musicians were a very talented and professional group. We received many compliments of people having a wonderful time listening to their lively music - they even got a few kids dancing! Would definitely hire again!
Joe and J Silverheels were an awesome cover band! They tailored my wish list as requested and all four musicians had amazing talent. The energy was perfect as they engaged the audience throughout the performance. It was an intimate urban outdoor setting, they were able to adjust the sound level accordingly and brought some cool lighting to spice things up just that much more. The dance floor opened up quickly and it was a great synergy. I would not hesitate to recommend this band; especially if you want to mix in some quality jazz with a wide selection of rock and roll. Last but not least, they play a mean harmonica plus tenor and alto saxophones to boot!!
I've been recording with Michael Peterson at Harvest Moon Studios for several years. Michael is an excellent producer and sound engineer with a high quality studio set up. Michael is great to work with - he can work with all levels of musicians which is important to me as an amateur - he is very patient while constantly encouraging me, and always has positive, creative suggestions. Examples of the results of our recording sessions can be found at mikemetzger.bandcamp.com. I look forward to recording more songs at Harvest Moon Studios.
Jan's guitar was the perfect background to our evening. His style makes it easy to socialize without having to compete with the music. His easy jazz was so nice to listen to. At one point we asked him to turn up the volume a little because once inside our venue, he played softly and we wanted to hear the beautiful music.
Tyliah Productions has provided music for Tamarii Matairea polynesian dance groups Crab feed for the past two years. Theo Tabora is a professional, always arrives early, and has also set up his sound system for our Musicians, Drummers, and singers. I also love that he has a wide range of music for all ages. I would highly recommend Tyliah Productions for your private parties, weddings, and Corporate events.
My husband & I hired Justin to play at our wedding ceremony in SF's Golden Gate Park. What immediately drew us to Justin was his talent of playing a wide range of music. My husband is a musician and had high standards for the guitarist we were going to choose. Justin met those standards and was very personable and professional. We were able to share our vision of the ceremony with him and he played samples for us over a meeting on Facetime, which was so easy. Justin delivered a great performance that was complimentary to our ceremony. We highly recommend Justin to anyone looking to hire a guitarist.
Musicians are very professional and the music is very nice.
Ruby Jaye and the band performed at my wedding. Ruby learned all of the songs I wanted for my ceremony, and the band played 5 hours straight for the reception, only taking 1 quick break! They had great energy and paid attention to what songs everyone wanted to hear.
Professional, talented musicians. A pleasure to deal with. They get it.
