FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $85 for a 1 1/2 hour to 2 hour private lesson for one or two people, and will travel up to twenty miles. If you live further away from Calistoga than that, you might consider coming for a lesson at my home studio. I will travel further to give workshops with a minimum of eight people. Please contact me to determine pricing - it will vary depending on the number of participants, materials and supplies costs, and distance I need to travel.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I teach art classes, workshops, and private lessons in acrylic painting, mixed media, collage, landscape painting, portrait painting, color harmony and composition, block printing, sketching and drawing, and more. I teach classes and workshops in the Napa Valley, at the Calistoga Art Center. I also teach private, group, and corporate art and creativity lessons, classes, and workshops. Are you looking for a fun creative art event for your family, friends, or company, in the wine country or at your own location location? Some of my workshops are specifically designed to be fun for people of all ability levels, whether or not they have ever done art before. I also teach private lessons, preferably in the general area of Napa Valley and Santa Rosa, and depending on my schedule. If I travel outside of the area, there is an additional charge for my travel time.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
First, look to see whether you like an artist's work. Is this someone who can do what you'd like to learn? Second, find out what kind of teaching experience the artist has. The creation of art and the teaching of it are two very different things ÃÂ an artist may create work you absolutely love, but not be able to teach in a manner that works for you as a learner. What is their approach? What is their teaching philosophy? Third, find out what you will walk away with ÃÂ will you learn specific skills, methods, or techniques? Will you leave with a painting, a block print, a mixed media piece? Will you know how to create something using materials you've never used before? Or will you have had a fun, creative time ÃÂ and how does the teacher's approach facilitate that?
