- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Actually, my pricing is generally very simple: $100 for a tuning, which includes basic repairs, and then gas on top of that, depending on distance.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Meeting them, “meeting” their piano, discussing its condition and the resulting options.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was taken on as an apprentice to a piano technician who’d been doing it for 30 years. She taught me everything she knows. Through her I learned tuning, regulation, string replacement, troubleshooting various issues, and all the mechanisms that make up a piano action, etc. I graduated with an associates degree from Musicians Institute, where I learned everything I know about piano/keyboard/music making.
