Introduction: I train dogs and puppies in basic manners and obedience, and I prepare them for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. Also, I train basic agility, nosework, obedience and rally. I'm very involved in dog sports and compete on a regular basis. I'm a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), a CGC evaluator for AKC, and a graduate of the Karen Pryor Clicker Academy and of the Animal Behavior College. All training is positive reinforcement only. Customers enjoy the small classes held in Chatsworth, with 3 to 6 dogs only, the variety of activities in class, and the relevance to everyday life of the behaviors taught. Emphasis is on you and your dog, a good, positive relationship, and fun with your dog. Private and semi-private lessons are also available at your location or mine.

Marcia's knowledge of the subjects I was interested in plus her training location being convenient attracted me to her classes. Her kind and patient manner is what has kept us taking her classes as often as we can. Obedience, nose work, agility and Canine Good Citizen training and testing have turned out to have more benefits than I had anticipated. The self-confidence my young rescue has now, let's me see the mature dog he has the chance of being. Marcia provides us with info on local events, economical training tools and has a lesson plan she follows, complete with handouts at the end of each lesson. Her enthusiastic reports on the agility events she and her dog compete in on the weekends gives us a picture of protocol, the language, and course technique. It has made me feel confident I can someday do it too. She has taught me how to train my dog. Yesterday while hiking in the Eastern Sierra, we came to a part of the trail that was congested with sticker bushes. He halted ahead of me, (we are only talking 10 in high and a foot deep) without thinking I said, "Jake, jump". Over he went. My little 13 lb, less than 2 yr. old, dog remembered what we learned during the agility jumping phase of Marcia's class. I could not have been more proud. Two days before that while shopping in a dog friendly sporting goods store in that area, we practiced his down/stay while I ck'd out the clothes. He did so well. It makes traveling with our dogs a pleasure. The more well behaved they are the more places welcome them.

It is very nice to work with Marcia at class. She is patient, understanding and very well versed in dog training techniques in addition to understanding dogs and their behavior in relation to their owners. I always look forward to her classes. And so too does my dog. She knows a lot.

She is very loving to the animals as well to there owners.She shows great direction,patience, and a goal for the dogs as to the owners, which down the road will teach both a full and a fun life for the hole family. In turn makes the dog and owner in joy each other for a long time to come.i am happy to give this review.

Marcia is an excellent teacher. She taught me about working with my dog, as much as we taught my dog. I enjoyed being with the other dog owners and their pups. An overall super experience.

Find a trainer you are confortable with and who only does positive reinforcement. The training is for you and your dog, together, and it should be a bonding experience, and lots of activity and fun.
