FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I like to be pretty darn transparent about the fees. I don't like to have a moment at the end where the bill comes due and it was different than expected. We talk about it ahead of time; before the contract is signed. For clients ordering prints, I give ballpark figures ahead of time, but it is difficult to give an exact dollar figure until I know what you're looking to buy for your space.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Each of my clients are unique in their needs. I use a hands-on approach and am always happy to answer questions. For my headshot clients, I have a webpage devoted to "What to Wear," for my wedding clients I have a questionnaire to help understand what to expect on the big day, for my model clients, we talk about what types of looks are desired in the portfolio, and so forth.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Constant learning is a must. Aside from the photography courses I took in High School and College, I've continued to read journals, magazines, and photography blogs. Additionally, I peruse art sharing sites (like deviant art) and even Google images to look at poses and lighting; learning from what others have done and trying to set up similar shots. Ultimately, I'm always learning so that I can create stunning images of my clients.
