Introduction: My approach is different than other tutors because I listen carefully to my students so I can better understand their needs. I know that if I explain something and the student does not understand it, then it is I who need to try again. It is my job to find a way to explain the material in such a way that the student thrives and meets with continued success. Also, there is no substitute for experience. I have been helping student's achieve their academic goals for over 20 years and I have continued to provide an excellent service and value over the years. As one parent recently said, "My son never would have increased his score on the SAT exam by 33% without Sylvia's patience and guidance. He is now on his way to his dream college." IMAGINE the look on the student's face when his grades come in. How empowered he/she will feel when he realizes that he can do this. That he can accomplish a goal he sets out to do. That reward will stay with him and the memory of that accomplishment, as well as the skills he learns, will help in his school work, and will help in his life. What I love most is seeing the student's face and seeing the student's joy as they meet with success.

My stepdaughter has been working with Sylvia for a few months now and we can really see a difference in her math and English (reading, writing, spelling, etc). My stepdaughter actually looks forward to her time with Sylvia, which is so important to us. Sylvia is very patient, personable and knowledgeable. My stepdaughter got very excited yesterday, after she found out that Sylvia is also fluent in Spanish because she would like to start working on that as well. I feel that we really lucked out with finding Sylvia. Soon, my other stepdaughter will be working with Sylvia to prep her for the SSAT!

My son's ACT score went from a 26 to 31 (which puts him in the top 5% )after being tutored by Sylvia! She laid out a clear plan in the beginning of the process and inspired and motivated my son with realistic goals. I would & have recommended her to anyone.

Sylvia is tutoring my daughters in Spanish. They never had Spanish before, and when they moved to a new school, the level of Spanish is very advance for someone who never had the lessons. Sylvia works with them in getting them up to speed. In a short time, both my children had become comfortable in following the lesson at school, and I have noticed that both of them have made quite significant improvements. My oldest daughter tells me that once she is comfortable with her Spanish, she wants to start French with Sylvia. I am sure that if either of my kids need tutoring in Math, Sylvia would be the one we go to. If your child or children need extra help in academic, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you call Sylvia. My children are very happy with how she teaches. Sylvia is also opens to different approaches in teaching. If my kids want more challenge, all they have to do is tell Sylvia and she will give them challenging lessons.
