- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I make a point to practice everyday. I also try to stay updated on music and sometimes check out guitar performances on youtube for the sake of getting philosophical or technical perspectives on guitar playing.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Music and guitar playing were always natural for me. Teaching became an interest later. So it just blended well together.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Something to consider is this: just because somebody can play guitar well doesn't mean he can teach well. Playing guitar and teaching are two distinct skill sets. Try to be sure that your guitar teacher has both. Also, some teachers have a tendency to lose focus on teaching you (for example, you and your teacher love Metallica so you're both so elated about your common interest that it takes up a big chunk of time out of your lesson. Then you go out for pizza with him. You might have gotten more like 75% of a lesson but he got 100% of your money!
