FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I’m going to be lower than the corporate editors. Less upkeep! And I may read faster than they do, also.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1. Ensure I understand what is needed and wanted, especially any particular concerns the client may have. 2. Get a timeline for completion. 3. Establish the rate of pay. 4. Do the work within the timeline (or communicate about any roadblocks. And get through them.) 5. Deliver the product. 6. Respond to any feedback or questions. 7. Get paid. 8. Everybody’s happy!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
See above. Also, I co-wrote and edited six published novels, and as a member of the Romance Writers of America, and the Science Fiction Writers of America, I had the pleasure and opportunity to read, proofread and critique many an unpublished manuscript from writers who were serious about getting published. And who did. My writing partner is a career technical writer, so I always have somebody to ask if I have any questions. I have both Merriam Webster and Dictionary.com on my phone. And a copy of the Gregg Reference Manual and a subscription to the Chicago Manual of Style. Because I know grammar and spelling, and I read a lot, I notice errors easily. Because I have references, I can check things to be sure they are either correct or not.
