Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: With 40 years teaching and playing experience, I know how to listen to each individual person, adjusting to your way of learning and your strengths. Lots of positive reinforcement helps too. I also am an experienced, certified Alexander Technique teacher which helps me spot when a flutist is working against herself/himself. It's hard to learn when we have tension and habits that contract our neck and spine. I incorporate this deep understanding into my flute lessons, and people learn faster and more easily when they are not fighting tension while playing. My office is in downtown Grass Valley on South Auburn Street. Making a difference in a small but meaningful way in this world.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Talk to the music teacher on the phone to get a feel for his or her style of communication. Ask about his/her training. Was it 1600 hours over 3 years time? Does s/he have experience teaching the Alexander Technique?

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Alexander Technique teachers study 1600 hours over at least 3 years time to qualify to teach. This method was developed over 100 years ago and is still a cutting edge mind-body approach. People learn to help themselves out of constricting habits. Alexander Technique is wonderful for back pain, stiff neck, imbalance, knowing more about yourself, gaining poise and comfort. It is widely known about in classical music circles, dance and drama as well. Most universities throughout the western world offer Alexander Technique to their music, dance and drama students. Others can definitely benefit even if not a dancer, actor or musician.
