Hi, I’m Debby, a professionally licensed bridal hair expert with years of experience creating beautiful, long-lasting styles for weddings, dances, media, runway, performances, and other special events. My focus has been in romantic bridal and soft glam styling. Whether it’s a vintage bob pinned back with gemstones and a birdcage, or a voluminous, bombshell blowout, I love the details and catering to each clients individuality. Pinning an heirloom broach onto a veil is a special honor. Sometimes it’s barefoot beaches, waves and pearls, other times it’s Hollywood vamp and bold red lips. I’m here for it all. Whether you’re a bride, performer, or attending a special event as the guest of honor, I’m happy to be your “beauty bestie.” From graduation caps to tiaras, it would be my pleasure to share my expertise and offer my services for your next big day. BOOKING I’m happy to offer flexible contracts, clear communication, and low deposits. Booking should be easy for both of us. I accept appointments up to 18 months in advance and can be reached for last minute services if my calendar is open. I accept early and late appointments for a $25 surcharge. Ask me about early start (before 8am) or late night spots (after 6pm). TRAVEL I do travel for a stipend from salon to get ready location: $35/<50 miles $85/50<75 miles, $120/75-120 miles. I also request that all parking be covered by the client and that you ensure I have accessible outlets, and pathways so I can bring any equipment needed to provide services on location. PREPARATION Please be on time or ten minutes early for your appointment with clean, DRY, tangle free hair. For skin, moisturized without spf and contacts in. My salon base is in South Park if you’d rather I host where I can offer shampoos, haircuts, glosses, hot tea and wine. It’s a cute salon with plenty of cafes and crafts nearby. It’s my personal recommendation that you get a salon blowout before any bridal styling. It’s a huge volume and shine difference but not required. Add it to any service for $45. Blowouts without styling are $65+. All other costs are listed up front with no hidden charges. I do believe hair should “look expensive, not be expensive.” Let me help you invest in yourself.See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

First, pull up a list of nearby hairstylists on Thumbtack, and read their profiles to get an understanding of what they specialize in — hair coloring, cutting, extensions, wedding hairstyles, etc. Then, start searching for stylists who have high ratings and customer reviews. You should also spend some time looking at photos that showcase their work. That way, you can determine if a stylist has the experience and skills needed to achieve the look you want.

When you’ve identified at least three hairstylists you like, ask them for a cost estimate and make sure they have the proper credentials.

After you find a few hairstylists you’re interested in, you need to decide who to hire. To figure this out, ask yourself these questions when evaluating each candidate:

  • Does the hairstylist have mostly positive customer reviews and high ratings?
  • Is the hairstylist charging prices that are reasonable and within my budget?
  • Does this person specialize in my hair type and texture?
  • Can the hairstylist achieve the look I want?
  • Does the hairstylist have the proper training?
  • Can the hairstylist come to me (i.e., are they a mobile hairstylist?), or do I need to go to their place of business?

Many hairstylists have the training and skills to do the following:

  • Shampoo and condition hair
  • Blow-dry hair
  • Cut and trim hair
  • Color, dye and bleach hair
  • Straighten, braid and curl hair
  • Install hair extensions and weaves

The best hairstylists can recommend styles and advise you on how to properly care for your hair type. Some may specialize in a certain treatment, or they may focus on hairstyles for events, such as a wedding.

A good rule of thumb is to tip your hairstylist at least 20%. Of course, it’s OK to tip more or less than 20%.

If you decide to tip 20%, here’s a quick guide on how much to tip your hairstylist:

Cost

How much to tip

$50

$10

$100

$20

$150

$30

$200

$40

$250

$50

$300

$60

If you believe your hairstylist messed up, bring it to their attention. Talk to them about what you expected and why you’re not happy with the end result. Because many professionals rely on positive customer reviews and word of mouth to keep their business going, they’re often willing to make adjustments.
