What a huge mistake.
I should have checked the Yelp reviews first.
I really liked Erick when he came over to do an estimate, and felt like I could completely trust him...so much so that I paid him in advance.
He said it would take three days, and would start on Monday.
That worked for me, because that meant it would be ready for a family gathering one week later on Labor Day.
Unfortunately, Labor day is two days away, and the job is not complete as promised.
My backyard is an unusable mess, and to make things worse his under qualified crew very likely killed my orange tree, instead of thinning the fruit and topping it as requested and agreed. They left it branch-less and with very little hope of survival. It was the ONLY tree that would have remained in my backyard. I wanted to keep it for two important reasons...it produced amazing fruit, and provided shade for my dog (plus it was home to a couple of long time resident squirrels that had actually befriended my dog. Now, they're gone, and there is nowhere left in my yard my dog can escape the heat.
Erick has cashed my check, and has shown no sense of urgency to complete the job. Rather than re-write everything, I'll just share my response to him on his company facebook page moments ago when he refused to take responsibility for the complete lack of professionalism shown by him and his company.
Here's my reply when Erick said the situation was completely out of his control...
Erick, This is COMPLETELY under your control. My ringer has been on all day, You have not called me since this morning when I told you this had to be DONE today. You said you would be over in an hour. It took you 3 hours, and I still have a huge mess in my yard. Because you can't keep your word, I can't have my family and friends over for a holiday barbecue because my yard is unsafe for children. Face it, your staff is under qualified, and you don't have adequate tools for the job. You should not have accepted the work if you cant complete it. If you had the proper tools, this would have been done on time. I had a 60 foot eucalyptus removed from my front yard in under 8 hours by a company that had a full size truck and chipper and didn't have to rely on their pickup truck to haul away the debris. Further more, your crew has very likely killed my orange tree which was only supposed to by thinned and topped. You left it without any remaining leaves or fruit, and completely branch-less. The grafts your experienced "pro" so very poorly executed are falling off the tree. Based on the pictures I took, and provided to three separate citrus farm/nurseries, they have indicated there is only a very slim chance the tree will survive, and even if it does, it wont produce fruit for years. I don't like to resort to this kind of crap, but you leave me with no choice than to post the content of this post as a review on every website I can find i.e.Yelp. For some STUPID reason, I chose to trust you and paid you in advance. At this point, if this isn't done in time for me to fire up my barbecue on Monday, I will expect a full refund and replacement of the tree you very likely killed.

We have already tried to resolve your issue over the weekend sat. And it wasn't to your liking . A lot of companies ask for pre payment . We have to agree to disagree here. Also the job you mentioned in here from another project unrelated to ours is like apples vs.oranges. We are sorry you feel misled but I tried to communicate Sat.and you didn't agree with us following up later. Alot of work was done just not according to your timeline .this is my last public comment as I feel you are using slander in an unjust way

Their work speaks for themselves. I have a 7000sq ft lot, with more plants and trees than I honestly can handle. They mowed the lawn, trimmed the trees, bushes, roses, various other plants. Hauled away the remains of a tree I removed.
They were very professional. Let me knew approx they would be there +/- 5minutes. Quite accurate on the estimated time to completion. If you don't have your own lawn care eq, they haul in their own and haul it out.
Gladly hire them again no questions asked
