Introduction: As a music teacher, its important to know what works. Both in the method of teaching, and in what the student is being taught. Having a teacher who has a degree in music and is primarily a working musician gives the student a leg up on the best ways to learn how to play and the most useful musical ability and knowledge for a career in music or for how to sound great when you are having fun and playing with friends. While it is important to use teaching books in the learning process, I combine workbooks with fun playing experiences and exciting approaches to learning rudimentary skills. Seeing a student get a gig, or getting accepted to the school they auditioned for, or simply grasping and mastering a difficult ability is the most rewarding part of teaching for me.
