About
I have been a professional illustrator for about a decade. During which I have fostered my love for stories and narratives of all sorts, and believe telling stories is one of the fundamental cores of humanity. It is my pleasure as an illustrator to continue this storytelling tradition, because what makes an image an illustration is the story being told. With this same pleasure it is my hope to help you tell your story.
I also just really like making things.

I had such a good experience working with Matthew! His art work is amazing and he was able to put exactly what I had in my head on paper. I hope my fiancé loves this painting as much as I do. I hope to work with Matthew again in the future.
He provided me a series of t-shirt designs that were a hybrid of hand illustration and Adobe Illustration. They were executed perfectly! He takes it beyond the initial request and really does make it a work of art. I highly recommend him.

Matthew created some beautiful icons and designs for my educational and card game apps, exceeding all expectations, as well as designing and implementing my business web site. He was professional, easygoing and great to work with.

Not the best art instructor, can’t speak to his illustrations. Takes a while to respond back, cancelled on a lesson, comes off kinda arrogant and makes you keep redoing projects until they are absolutely perfect to his liking. When they’re not, he lets you know in what I perceived was a sarcastic way... not too willing to negotiate lesson prices either

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There is no standard pricing system, because many of the variables needed to determine a price are dependent on the clients need, budget and intent of use of the illustration.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a customer, new or old, I believe it is important to speak with the costumer first to fully understand the scope of their project, and address any questions the client may have. From this discourse, a contract can be formed within which the project is defined, a price and payment method are agreed upon and the extent of time the customer may use the created image is established.
After the contract is drafted and signed, the preliminary stage can begin. It is in this initial stage when all the “work” is done, by with a series of sketches and comps for the client to review and provide feedback upon. This back and forth continues on for a couple of rounds, with each round growing in complexity: Line, Black and White, Full-Color.
With the final comp in hand, and no other changes needed, the final image is created.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have graduated California State University of Long Beach College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustrations. I have also worked within the education field for 9 years.
