Introduction: Are you an adult looking to learn cello for the first time? Or someone who’s coming back to it after a long spell and this time, you want to get it right? Do you want to learn with a Juilliard graduate who has spent 6 years researching and perfecting the art of teaching adults? Do you not want to have your precious supply of motivation sapped by learning with kid-focused methods, a kid-focused teacher, playing kid-sounding songs, around kids who play better than you? Would you rather learn surrounded by a group of likeminded adults, getting constant support, inspiration, and motivation, and being taught with a method created for adults by a teacher who’s goal to get YOU even further than you think you can go? Does the fastest progress available to an adult student, no matter their schedule, sound tantalizing to you? Does actually getting all the tools you need to meet your cello goal sound worthwhile to you? Does becoming a fully-realized, well-rounded musician excite you? If you answered yes to any of those questions, College of Cello was designed with you in mind. We believe in try-before-you-buy. Free introductory lesson for those on the fence or with questions. We look forward to hearing from you.

Keith is an excellent teacher. Very knowledgeable about the cello and music theory. He finds ways to explain concepts so they make sense and he is patient, supportive and inspiring. I have thoroughly enjoyed cello lessons after not playing for over 40 years. He obviously loves what he does and brings that to every lesson.

Keith Williams is one of the most giving and generous instructors I have ever worked with. He is a master of his craft and a gifted teacher. He is passionate about what he does and it shows in every lesson. He possesses the clarity needed to explain challenging concepts and the patience to slowly and repeatedly walk through the careful steps needed to build a solid technical foundation. He has held me to a high standard while fostering a nurturing and relaxed environment conducive to growth and creativity. I truly thank God for the progress I’ve been making in my studies with him. Keith’s musical coachings with my vocal repertoire have also been highly beneficial, as his musical sensitivity applies to many styles and genres within the classical realm. I highly recommend Keith as an instructor– not only for cello, but also for music theory and general coaching.

Keith is an incredible cello teacher and mentor. So grateful for all of his help the past year - especially with regards to technique and phrasing. Would recommend him for intermediate/advanced. I’ve been playing for about 5 years now, so he was able to help guide me to the next level. Also, he writes his own exercises for his students that have helped me learn much faster than what I was working with before

I had the pleasure of working with Keith at the USC Thornton School of Music and I can speak very highly about his strong qualities as a teacher. Early on, he sets the tone for the lessons and from that moment he is very demanding and constantly strives for excellence. I especially admire his attentive listening and the timing of his corrections which suggests great experience. His lessons feel like a journey, full of energy and excitement. He likes pushing the limits but certainly there is no doubt that by the end of the lesson there is a feeling of satisfaction for the work that has been done. I definitely recommend Keith to potential students who have a keen desire to learn and want to feel happy and proud of their achievements!

I have been taking lessons with Keith for over 7 months now, and I am very glad that I have made so much progress. As an adult student, I started my cello study 2 years ago, and developed the bad habit of tensing up whenever I play. That really bothers me because my sound turns out to be very uneven and crunchy. During our lessons, Keith is so patient and helpful that he starts with the very basics of holding the bow and positioning my hands and arms. He is also very good at demonstrating things and making abstract ideas easy for people to understand. He pursues the best quality in both his own playing and his teaching, and I have learned a lot from him. If you hope to start or further your cello study, Keith is definitely one of the best teachers you could find!
