About

I am an active soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, orchestral artist, and teacher. I recently completed my Doctor of Musical Arts at USC and graduated from the Juilliard School and Paris Conservatory. I have performed in prestigious halls across the U.S (Kennedy Center in D.C., Alice Tully Hall in NYC), Europe and Asia. Since relocating to Los Angeles, I regularly perform with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and maintain an active private studio. I offer cello lessons to beginners, intermediate and advanced player; children, teenagers and adults. I am very passionate about teaching. I deeply care about accompanying each of my students to develop their full potential and help them reach their goals with cello and music. My commitment as a teacher is to provide a solid and healthy foundation of technique, musical knowledge as well as developing artistry. It is also very important for me to share with students my love for music.

I am an adult player, never played any string instrument before this year. I used to play piano but looking back, Cello was a better fit for me. This year I bought a Cello and started practicing from Suzuki method for a short time but realized that my lessons were not as technical as I wanted and I had to search for hours after lessons for materials to somehow fix my techniques on my own. Then I got very fortunate to come across Juliette profile, shear luck. She quickly replied back to my request and setup the first session in the same week. I am not starting cello at a ‘young’ age so I need to do the best I can with the time I got. Juliette is such a delight to work with. Quality of the lessons are superb. She cares about the details of my play, give feedback promptly, answers my questions patiently and graciously (even after the class in text messages). After each lesson I rush to write down all the tips and points she gives me, in a notebook, I have page and pages of them only after few sessions. I feel inspired and lucky to work with her. My family has also commented on my improvements after these few sessions. Eve though I am attending the classes through zoom (living hundreds of miles away) but still the high quality and her careful attention is there. Thanks Juliette.

Juliette is an excellent instructor. She delivers her lessons with good direction and knowledgeable insight. She motivates you to embrace the Cello and its magic. My highest recommendation is offered to Juliette as I have been studying with her for some months now. As a formerly classically trained cellist who suffered an industrial accident resulting in the loss of 1/3 of a finger; she has worked with me to design work-arounds to allow me to play with greater intonation and ease. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually like to first talk on the phone or meet to get to know students better and discuss their motivations and goal(s). We also talk about how much time they are will have to practice, what kind of repertoire they would like to play, etc. Then, I come up with a customized approach that best fit the student’s need as well as explain some of my teaching philosophy. I also provide an idea on what the content of the lesson would be week-by-week.
