About
I have observed other teachers trying to explain concepts to their students, but they don't phrase things in a clear, understandable way--and they seem to run out of patience. I am great communicator, I am very patient, and I have the ability to explain things in a way that my students seem to easily understand. I also listen very carefully to what my students say they want to accomplish from our lessons, and I make sure that I address these needs in a way that is fully satisfactory to the student. I love seeing the progress my students make. It's very gratifying to hear the positive feedback they get about their new skills from their family, friends, and coworkers. In fact, I just finished working with a student from China whose supervisor and coworkers couldn't understand anything he was saying. I'm happy to report that everyone at the office can now understand him.

Jan is an exellent teacher and tutor! When she started to teach me, my English level was intermediate. I could’n express myself very well, and had difficulties with grammar too. Now, I am able to take English 1 course which is the highest on the course squence at Santa Monica College. Thank you Jan, I couldn’t do it without your help!

I am very pleased with Janice as an English as a second language tutor. My fiance is from Brazil, she is very shy, and was nervous about learning and speaking English. The teaching method Janice uses is non threatening or intimidating, but very proactive at the same time. She is learning a lot quickly, but does not feel overwhelmed or uncomfortable. She really is doing well, and wants to increase her number of days per week already. She feels very comfortable learning with Janice, and really likes her as a person. They communicate great. I highly recommend her services to anyone looking to learn English for the first time, or to enhance their skills.

We would like to thank Jan for her professionalism and her kindness. My wife and I had great English lessons with Jan for one month in LA. Jan managed to make the lessons very interesting mixing general conversations and specific grammar rules, idioms and vocabulary teaching. We were so happy with our experience with Jan that once back home, we decided to continue our lessons remotely via skype video, a way to benefit from Jan's great teaching experience anywhere in the world . We strongly recommend Jan .

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

If the student buys a package of 10 one hour lessons, I give a 10% discount. So instead of $500 for the package, the student would pay only $450.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

English as a Second Language (ESL) Grammar, Spelling, and Conversation Accent Reduction Actors for Line Coaching

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I just finished working with a student from China whose supervisor and coworkers couldn't understand what he was saying. I'm happy to report that now everyone at his office can understand him. I have also worked with students from France and Russia who always spoke in the present tense; they are now "self-correcting" when speaking about an event in the past or future. This is a benchmark in our profession, indicating that the student is becoming mindful when they speak and needing instructor correction less and less.
