Eddie T did an inspection on our chimney for the buyer of the property when we were in escrow selling our house. His report stated the following:"the only solution I see is to demo the chimney down to the ground, remove the existing foundation for the chimney, and then pour a new foundation and install either a new masonry base, new firebox, new smoke chamber and then follow the LA plans above that with metal flue and metal framing, etc., OR one installs a prefab fireplace and prefab pipes inside a chase enclosure. Or one removes the chimney completely and doesn't replace it with a new system, ending up with no fireplace."The buyer ended up backing out of the sale after using that report along with some other shady reports to try to knock $200,000 off of the agreed purchase price. We did not believe the report so had a different chimney inspection done on our own. The outcome was a recommendation to fix a small crack and clean the chimney. Total price $300Since then we have had another buyer go into escrow who hired a different company to do an inspection on the house and the chimney inspection came through with flying colors, no problems at all.Two different Inspections post "The Chimney Guy" came back with no issues. My son had been living in the house for several years and had no issues with the fire place. The neighbor said the owners before that made a fire almost every night for 10 years, no problems.DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY. In my opinion "The Chimney Guy" (Eddie T) either made up work to try to make more money OR was paid off by the buyer to give a bad report so that she could try to get the price down drastically. I have never heard of that before but have since been told by multiple contractors that it is a common occurrence. (being offered money to give a bad report)Brian

The Chimney Guy was recommended to me by one of my fellow homeowners. I am delighted that I took his advice. From start to finish, I found this company to be professional, accommodating, accessible and terrific at follow up.Lauren is the best front "man" a company could hope for. I asked countless questions which she answered promptly, comprehensively and graciously.John, the lead tech, was excellent. He let me know that he was able to arrive early and continued to reassure me every step of the way. He was thorough, proactive, knowledgeable; and very important to me, he treated my home as if it were his own.Chimney sweeping is not a clean job and yet, my home looked as pristine as ever when he was finished.I would not hesitate to recommend The Chimney Guy.

Had The Chimney Guy inspect a gas fireplace on a home we were buying... CG inspector had a look and sent a review saying the fireplace needed a little over $400 in general updates like sealing the firebox, expanding tile to the hearth etc.We moved in a month later and have never been able to get the fireplace to work... had another company come out to inspect and they said the electronics, valve and pilot assembly are shot- which are $1,800 to replace and not mentioned at all in the Chimney Guy's inspection report.I asked CG to refund their inspection fee, as they missed these major components' poor condition, but they said "no, the inspection was thorough and proper". Imagine failing to notice very expensive parts of a gas fireplace are going bad and then trying to pass off your incompetent review as "proper"...The Chimney Guy properly sucks, they don't stand behind their work. Don't waste your money on this business.
The Chimney Guy's reply
We were hired to do a chimney inspection for you. The chimney inspection was done at the end of September 2023, and we heard back from you in January 2024.
The purpose of the inspection is to find out the condition of the fireplace and chimney. The inspector mentioned that “The fireplace was functional at the time of the inspection.”
We didn’t receive No communication from you about having issues with the fireplace since the time you moved in.
Then, you hired another company, and they gave you a bid for the work that has noting to do with our inspection because at the time of the inspection The Fireplace Was Functional. We don’t know what has happened since we did the inspection. I’m not even sure if what the other company told you is what needed to be done. Maybe you should get a second opinion.
We will stand by our word if there are any issues with our work or inspection. But in your case, there was nothing wrong we did or said.
Best,
Bryan O.

As a seasoned real estate agent with a track record of managing and selling 1.5 billion USD, I have encountered various service providers. However, my recent experience with the Chimney Guy has been nothing short of exceptional. The technician, Louis Coates conducted the most thorough fireplace inspection I have ever witnessed. His attention to detail was impeccable, and he meticulously evaluated every aspect of the fireplace. What truly set him apart was his ability to explain the information in a clear and comprehensive manner. He patiently walked us through his findings, providing insights and recommendations with utmost professionalism. His commitment to delivering top-notch service is evident, and it is clear that he takes great pride in his work. Based on my experience, I wholeheartedly recommend the Chimney Guy to anyone in need of fireplace inspection services. Without a doubt, we will be utilizing his services again in the future. Thank you, Chimney Guy, for your outstanding workmanship and unparalleled service!
