Needed a small paint job and some tiles replaced on my roof that had fallen off. Sent my request out to several places, Elite responded quickly, in fact they were the only one to respond. Overall I was extremely satisfied with their work. There was upsell but they weren't pushy. I'd recommend working with them on a project. Nathan was my main contact, he was friendly and professional.

Improvement could be made by being more upfront and honest with customers with where contract dollars and energies are directed based on customers expressed project priorities and not higher profit-based motives.
I gave two stars because one star would ignore the excellent work of the various builders who worked at the direction of leadership. The Project Manager was dedicated to getting work done, but it hinges on the priorities being shifted from my priorities because there was less money to be made, as he told me. I will describe my experience with a project manager for Elite Team Builders. Through Thumbtack and at our initial meeting, I expressed that my focus was on getting a carpenter bee damaged deck cover replaced as THE priority. I also showed him the floppy deck skirt panels, and the sinking deck top stair which needed reinforcing. Next, I showed him some landscape and wall stucco projects that were not priority, but things for which I wanted cost information. The Project Manager reassured me that he had people who could do all of it. He minimized the distinction between people who worked directly for him, and those who he would contact which, unbeknownst to me, would require a separate contract. He said the first thing they would do was to demo the deck cover, which fell in the realm of preparing to replace it, so I thought. We reviewed the landscape project, he provided a quote for landscape, wall and deck cover demo tasks and I agreed. Work was scheduled to start the next day. Reviewing the contract that night I realize there was no plan to replace the deck cover. When he arrived with a ready crew the next day I asked him about it to which he responded “Oh no. I can’t do that. That would cost between (100-200% of the current contract ) on its own.” I felt blindsided because I didn’t understand why he was coming to do work, not on the priority, and the dollars that were to be spent would only accommodate demolition of the deck. Wouldn’t any company that could replace the deck cover do that on their own? In addition, 200% more dollars would be required,potentially, to get the priority done. How did he know if I had those resources or not? Why would he reserve the contract dollars and crew energies for what was secondary and be dismissive about the amount of resources needed to get the priority done? I was so clear about the deck cover replacement being a priority and now I was confused about how this project was happening. Feeling stuck and cornered, I agreed to let him proceed, because according to him, even though they hadn’t done any work yet, the crew needed to be paid, and money had already been spent, blah blah blah. I got a patio umbrella to compensate for the deck cover that was not going to be replaced until I hired somebody else. That was my version of making lemonade out of lemons because it took me a while to realize what had happened. My greatest concern was that he knew getting a deck cover would be multiples of the cost of the current contract, but I did not. He used my ignorance of that to redirect dollars to the landscaping project, which I believe was grossly inflated. Later when I expressed to him how I felt about his managing that info in a way that blindsided me, he provided his reasoning for why he felt it was OK. He told me that I didn’t need a deck cover, that the projects he did instead added way more property value to my home and ultimately he would have lost money if he had provided a deck cover. I told him I didn’t care about those things. Priority was a comment on the order in which things are done and he dismissed that at the beginning of the project before he wrote the project statement on paper. I didn’t understand how you could lose money by presenting the customer with a straight up representation of what you need to give them what they want and them having the choice to accept or reject it. Trust was broken, and I was only going to do whatever was reasonably needed to make this project end. Later after the landscaping and stucco had begun, he came back to the deck and wanted to point out how certain areas were subject to rot due to water and I needed to get certain things replaced, offering to have another company come in and handle reinforcing the skirt and step. He repeated the phrase I used from the beginning that “ It was a safety issue.” I asked him if that was the case why he didn’t do that first like I had asked he replied basically that he thought I would’ve had more resources and offered me financing and wanted to know why I didn’t want financing with him when I declined. Resources were not the issue at this point. He didn’t see what his deceit cost in terms of my willingness to expand the scope beyond what was required for the current contracted project. The workers who did the landscaping and stucco were phenomenal, but the leadership that directed their efforts started out with misleading information based on what would give the Project Manager and his company the higher profit. Com passed on the offer to have home bring someone in to fix the deck “ at his cost” but trust was gone. In consolation, he did ask the crew to reattach my deck skirt boards and reinforce the stair, which are temporary fixes prefaced by “ this is what I am going to do for you.” WOW. I’m supposed to be so impressed you are putting a bandaid on something you were called to resolve as priority but you dismissed. My yard is complete, but every time I go out, I’m aware of the approach that was involved. On top of all that he presumed I was going to give him good reviews on several sites which were forwarded to me. He asked me directly if I was happy with the yard, but I’m able to separate what the workers did professionally with how his planning directed the efforts away from the priority. There was no reason for a lack of clarity about anything. As excellent as the work was that the fine craftsmen did, it was soured by misleading from the beginning with a patronizing effort to somewhat fix it on the back end. Never again.
