Layla's Mandarin Lesson

I’m a native Mandarin Chinese speaker with over eight years of experience teaching Mandarin to students from diverse backgrounds. I hold an MFA in Acting from UCLA, and I bring the creativity and expressiveness of my theater training into every lesson I teach. Over the years, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how to help native English speakers master Mandarin—especially in the areas of pronunciation and phonetics. My approach is rooted in both linguistic insight and real-world experience. I specialize in making Mandarin fun, accessible, and personally meaningful by customizing lessons to align with each student’s interests and passions. Using immersive techniques like role-play, repetition, and language games, I create an engaging learning environment that supports long-term retention and confidence in speaking. Whether I'm working with young children, business professionals, or academic learners, my goal is always the same: to spark curiosity, build strong foundations, and cultivate authentic human connection through language. Teaching Mandarin is more than a job for me—it’s a passion.
