Introduction: I approach teaching from a multi-disciplinary point of view, always. For example, I like to meld the voice training I received as an actor with the voice training I give to singers. Releasing one's natural voice as an actor has a lot in common with singing on the breath. I won't dismiss prior training or ways of thinking, I will simply help the student to expand his/her options and acquire new tools. There is a joy in seeing someone "get it" for the first time. I have been the consumate student my whole life and I know how that feels and how special, rare, and precious it is. When students take ownership for a new skill I feel as though I'm empowering them with ideas I believe in. It is comforting to know that they will bring those ideas into their lives.

Noah was a great singing teacher. He really draws from his experience which seems to make it easy for him to analyze what you're doing, how you're doing it, and how it can improve. The environment was professional and stress free. He gave me tools and taught me concepts that helped improve my singing voice during that very first day of class. I'm now confident enough to sing in front of crowds because of the tutelage and confidence Noah has given me. I also have techniques that I can work on on my own to continue improving. I recommend him, and I plan on going back for more!

FAQs

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely! I am a working composer, but recently I realized my knowledge of mixing and sound engineering was lacking so I attended a 6-day intensive boot-camp in mic-ing techniques, mixing and engineering. It was such a blast! I also attended a monthly score analysis up in Studio City and, most recently, we started analyzing the score to Star Wars. I am always looking for similar master classes and extension courses to take in my spare time in order to stay sharp.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I love music and eduction, and I believe strongly in spreading what I know to the world. I relish moments of clarity where an understanding is reached and I've always had a talent for turning on those metaphorical lightbulbs for people. What can I say? I'm a good communicator.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently accompanied a professional cellist on piano for a concert at a church in Santa Monica. I hadn't done much accompanying on the piano in years and felt rather rusty going into the rehearsal process, but my cellist had put her faith in me and I wasn't about to let her down. I put in hours of hard practice on a challenging program and the concert was a success. I perserved when I felt overwhelmed and showed a tenacity and resolve I'm very proud of.
