For example, writing a grant for a vital cause is an exciting challenge, but it is even more thrilling when a new non profit agency receives the grant!
I welcome all types of clients. The first thing I do is spend at least an hour speaking or meeting in person with a client.
This personal conversation is vital to a successful project. Nothing replaces a verbal exchange of ideas and humor to establish a working relationship.
Texting is fine as we get going, but an old fashioned conversation is key!!

Ms. Lisa-Beth Harris at Maverick Consulting did a great job editing my recent book. When one is writing, he or she is so familiar with the story that he or she cannot see the details. The writer knows where the story is going, but loses sight of how to get there. Ms. Harris really helps by concentrating on the details that the writer misses. Lisa is still helping us with our daughter's college application process including preparing her personal essay for schools requiring such. Her advice thus far was tailored to our daughter's personal background and goals and has significantly helped us find a path for our daughter that is best for her. Lisa recommended the Cal State system and specific schools within the system that would be good for our daughter. She advised us of the application process and ensuring we applied early, in advance of any deadlines. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Each project is unique. I have general rates. But I won’t know the price until we have discussed the details. Also, I WORK WITHIN the CLIENT’s budget. I work with all kinds of people-I am proud of being both compassionate and fair with each unique person! I also break up payments if needed. No job is too big or too small!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I talk to the customer by phone to learn about their situation. I send samples and also ask to see what materials they already have. Then we establish a game plan, schedule and fees. I write up an agreement and send to the client for approval.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
MA, Journalism, MPA, Public Policy, both from Columbia University, BA, International Relations, American University, Teaching Credential, English. Certified in Grant Writing.
