- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The actual assignment needs to be reviewed in order provide an estimate. The estimate depends on many factors, including on whether the translations is a general one or of a specialized field, the urgency of the assignment, etc.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Establishing good and clear communication with a client is extremely important. My first goal is to understand what a potential client is looking to accomplish. So, listening to the client's requests and trying to respond to questions or concerns a client may have are my first priority. When I am contacted by a client, I first gather information and do light research on the client's history and mission, to make sure that I understand the client's goals. I understand we are all busy professionals, and so I try to prepare myself with information and any questions I may have, based on my research on the client, ahead of time so that we spend time on what really matters to the client. In order to establish my knowledge and experience for the client, before our first meeting, I will prepare a few samples of my work. Lastly, I will not accept all work that comes my way. I am a strong believer in that my reputation is on the line with every single word I translate. So, I will only accept work that I find I'm well suited for based on my experience and knowledge. When the client is interested in hiring me, and I chose to accept the assignment, I prepare an estimate so that the client knows exactly what the charges will be.

I have a BA in Applied Linguistics, and over 15 years of experience.
