My name is Alexander Thomas and I am a photographer and filmmaker in Los Angeles CA. I have been creating images since I was five years old on a family camcorder (in those day's it was a VHS camcorder). I am extremely passionate about what I do and carry that passion with me to each shoot. I work hard to ensure my clients are continuously happy as most of my clients tend to book multiple sessions.
I believe image making is a powerful and fun endeavor and always get great results no matter what the shoot is. My work has been featured in a variety of magazines like Revolver, Playboy, AP, New York Magazine, and my video work has been seen across the web and on channels like VH1, MTV2, BlankTV, and many more!

I don’t know where to start... Alexander was soooo patient with me and very sweet!! I was very happy with his work and the quality with the pictures, I fell in love with every picture he took!!! When I posted on Thumbtack to get photos for a dating app, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. Alexander was responsive and extremely easy to work with. He helped me feel comfortable, gave great recommendations for locations/poses/etc and was a genuinely great dude to interact with during the shoot. Alex was great! The whole time we had the shoot. I felt like I was hanging out with my friend the whole time. From the moment I met him we vibed. Alex was truly wonderful to work with. To get an introvert comfortable in front of a camera is no easy feat, and he understood everything I was trying to accomplish by making my photo shoot as comfortable and fun as possible. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I try my hardest to work within my client's budgets which sometimes means assembling a custom quote. When considering Thumbtacks fee, insurance, gear, knowledge, transportation, self-employment tax and so much more - my prices are extremely reasonable. I charge based on time, from an hourly and half-day rate to a full day rate. Included in this is the cost of editing and retouching, but not tax. I take a 50% non refundable deposit to save the date, and allow rescheduling at no additional cost.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically I like to have a conversation with my customers establishing what they are looking for in a photographer or director. Afterwards, I create a treatment or other applicable document outlining what work is to be done and we move forward! From this point forward we plan the shoot out, make sure every detail is accounted for and make magic!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to college for film production and photography, have tens of thousands of hours logged in Adobe Creative Suite, a masterclass under my belt, as well as the continuing education of seminars, and peer lectures.
