About
I specialize exclusively in editing academic writing that follows APA guidelines. I do not provide ghostwriting. I have been using APA since the 1970s as an undergraduate psychology major.
Prior to creating Dr. Ellie Edits, I edited friends’ papers for free since 1990s. With over 14 years in business, I’ve supported students from UMGC, OSU, USC, Walden University, Grand Canyon University, Harvard, Saybrook University, and many more. I’m also a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success (Sigma Alpha Pi), nominated based on my 3.85 GPA in my master’s program.
As someone who earned a PhD in Psychology, I know firsthand how painful dissertations and theses can feel. My job is to make that process easier—with clear, concise, APA-compliant edits, a bit of humor, and steady support to get you to the finish line.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone. Let’s work together so you can submit work you’re proud of.

Dr. Ellie is truly the queen of APA editing. I contacted her when ProQuest returned my dissertation with major revisions and gave me only five days to complete all requested changes. Dr. Ellie’s pricing was clear and reasonable; she charges per word and provides comprehensive support, so I knew exactly what to expect.
Not only did she handle every aspect of APA 7th edition—formatting the manuscript, correcting in-text citations, revising the reference list, and reworking tables and graphs—but she also returned the fully edited document a full day before the deadline, ready for publication. Throughout the process, she maintained constant communication, sending text updates and asking for clarification whenever needed so there were no surprises or misunderstandings.
What truly set Dr. Ellie apart from other editors I had contacted was the quality of her questions and attention to detail. She requested my university’s thesis and dissertation guidelines, asked which system and software I used to complete my dissertation, and made sure to work within the same platform so there would be no formatting issues when I resubmitted. This level of professionalism and care made an incredibly stressful situation feel manageable.
Dr. Ellie is worth every penny, and I highly recommend her to any doctoral student who wants their dissertation to meet the highest standards of APA and institutional requirements. Don’t think twice about shopping around—working with her was one of the best decisions I made in my doctoral journey.

Dr. Ellie is amazing! I hired Dr. Ellie as an editor for my dissertation. She was spot on regarding what I needed to do and the feedback that she provided after review of my first 2 chapters. Her experience and professionalism helped ensure that my paper was edited to the highest standard, and she ensured that the formatting of my paper was ready to pass all reviews. I truly believe I was meant to meet Dr. Ellie! When I say she came through in a “clutch time,” I mean it. I had only 8 days before I had to upload my dissertation to my university’s library for degree conferral and publication. After initially contacting her on Thumbtack (my first time using this application/site), she suggested we talk on the phone. That call not only helped me connect with her but also let me understand her knowledge of APA. When she shared her story about paying nearly three times as much for an editor during her doctorate (which showed she knew what it was like to be in my shoes) and discussed the differences between APA 6th and 7th Editions, I knew she was the right choice for me! She was thorough, a stickler for true APA standards, and helped me identify inconsistencies between my university's dissertation guidelines, the school's template, and my committee’s advice—issues that didn’t align with current APA standards, though she advised me to follow my committee's guidance despite them. This made me realize the importance of having an experienced editor, something I should have always had and will continue to seek for future postdoctoral projects. Overall, Dr. Ellie isn’t just a professional editor, but also an advisor, a trustworthy partner, and a friend. She gave me peace of mind regarding my dissertation’s format and APA compliance. Moreover, she delivered her edits within 72 hours, well ahead of my 5-day request, which I appreciated because she prioritized my project, and this allowed me to get my final dissertation to my committee for review, with no issues afterward. I look forward to maintaining our editorial relationship and growing our friendship. Choose Dr. Ellie!

I hired Dr Ellie Edits and I am so happy with the experience. What stood out most was that she's a real human with a great sense of humor, something you don't always find in editingservices. She approached my paper with genuine care and attention, working on it as though it were her own project. Her editing was thorough and thoughtful, and she made the entire process so much more pleasant than I expected. If you're looking for someone who will truly invest in your work and make the editing process actually enjoyable, I highly recommend her services.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is simple...two pennies per word. If you want to figure out how much a job will cost, simply multiply the number of words by .02
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned my PhD in psychology in 2015. I know the process.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had been doing editing free for all my friends, family, and classmates. They kept telling me I should consider doing this as a profession because I was so good at it. My own dissertation style mixed quantitative and qualitative methods, which gives me a special ability to work with any research paradigm. I bet now my friends, family, and classmates are kicking themselves -- because now I charge them!
