Catherine helped us decorate our living room. From the first meeting to the final installation of all the pieces, she has been wonderful to work with. Catherine understood our design preferences very well and came up with many great ideas. We are thrilled with how our living room looks now!Nov 16, 2017VerifiedAustin Design's reply
Thank you Junko! I have really enjoyed working with you!!
Catherine has an excellent eye for design and comfort. She took care of my office redesign from beginning to end, literally. As a result of her great work, I am having her assist us with our home redesign as well. I would highly recommend her!May 16, 2017VerifiedAustin Design's reply
Thank you Zaak, it has been an absolute pleasure working with you, and I am looking forward to working with you on your home remodel!
Honestly we were very hopeful at beginning, but this is how it ended. I have warned you! - Project took 7 months and went nowhere. Had plan to do design for 5 rooms but ended only had a dinning table. - Nightmare skills at managing our budget. We expanded our budget beyond our initial limit to allow her complete the project and at end she still couldn't control and manage it for us. - Will nickle-and-dime you to death. You pay for inbound shipping to her staging warehouse, storage fees while your furniture waits there (not sure why), and outbound shipping to your house. Wow, a piece of furniture will end up costing you 2X MSRP or more! - Don't sign her contract -- if you are dissatisfied with her choices, and decide not to buy, boy, you will be charged arm and leg for her design fees! You think you pay a lot to real estate agents, wait until you see her bill! In Silicon Valley where we expect superb products and services, Austin Design's service is the opposite. If you want to waste 7 months achieving nothing, call her up; if you are serious about decorating your home, forget it. Don't waste your time.Jul 20, 2016VerifiedAustin Design's reply
Jesse, I find it fascinating that you would choose this platform to write a review. After not responding to my communications and disappearing for over two weeks this is very childish behavior. When I informed you that your credit card had been declined and requested that you please take care of your outstanding balance, prior to the delivery of your furniture, you refused. I also want to make it perfectly clear that your project would have been completed within budget, if you hadn’t spent so much energy trying to avoid actually paying for your furniture, or threatening to dispute the charges on your credit card after everything had been delivered. That is fraudulent behavior that no one should have to tolerate. In 31 years of business, I have honestly never worked with a client who had intentionally tried to undermine and sabotage the design process as much as you have. I find it disingenuous that you would question my integrity and professionalism, when you have repeatedly told me that you don’t want to pay any sales tax, requested that I bill the furniture for your home, to your business, and have even asked me to post date the invoices to 2017. I’m sorry, but each one of those requests indicates a questionable character not to mention the fact of how interested the IRS would be in your activities Sales tax and freight charges are not by any means an unusual business practice. Let me make this really simple for you. Pay for the furniture that you ordered and it will be delivered. ype your response to this review.

Thank you so much Nellie!! I thoroughly enjoy working with you also!!
Austin Design was able to help me with several projects that I had during the last few years. Catherine has been easy to work, with guiding me,and my clients. She without fail brings us to a beautiful finish product that could not have been done without her knowledge, and bold ideas that put our properties over the top for sale or for leasing. Never would I do a project requiring her skills and guidance, without her. Just give her the challenge and without a doubt the end project will be exactly what you wanted and more. Skill, style, and integrity is what I find in Catherine over and over, and I am thrilled to have her working on any of my projects.Jul 28, 2016Austin Design's reply

License Type: Interior Designer - Certified (CA)
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? No, basically, if you are purchasing items, the design fee is included. If you are strictly seeking guidance then consultation is hourly.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We would schedule a time to meet, either at the client's home, or a my office if we are reviewing plans. We would discuss the project, as well as, my client's preferences and wish list. I would then prepare a presentation for our next meeting, which we would discuss and refine, and implement.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I do have a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, but since I am state certified, I am required to take continuous education classes to maintain my license. I think it is an excellent way to stay current with the ever changing field of design.
