Have you ever had a nice massage and felt the usual pain and stiffness return the next day? It doesn’t have to be that way! I am a trained Medical Massage Practioner who is skilled in many types of massage: Swedish, deep-tissue, acupressure, sports, Neuromuscular, IAFM, IASTM,Lymphatic drain and many others. My gift, however, is a deep commitment to innovative treatments to improve function and comfort in the soft tissue and muscles of the body that have been stressed over many years – often a whole lifetime. But what has really worked with my clients has been releasing the deep adhesions in the fascia, the connective tissue that binds the human body together. Fascia is protective by nature – it cushions your entire body – but it can become hardened and stiffened over the years. Even strong muscles can be bound up in it.   Over time, my techniques shift the fascia in a lasting way. I have reduced a chronically swollen Achilles tendon to normal function by carefully manipulating the inflamed fascia around it so that it can move normally, without pain. Backs with a thick “turtle shell” of fascia surrounding them eventually become supple and the muscles of the back and shoulders are able to move back into their proper places and support rather than immobilize the body. Hands and feet that are numb can regain feeling and better movement, as the fascia release enables better circulation. This is my calling, and I love my work.
