Joan lacked effort and experience in design. She also did not listen to my needs and was very unprofessional. I would not recommend her for creative design work, she likes to use free stock photos and overcharge for her work.

Though you wouldn't consider a 'Text Only' logo, which I advised when you cut the number of working days from 21 to 5, (right before I was approved to begin), you did agree with me, that I'd need to rely on a mix of stock illustrations and original artwork. We made your deadline, the project yielded many viable designs, I sent you all you needed to proceed, and you were happy with everything right up to the due date of the last payment. Ultimately, I see you did take my advice and went with one of the Text Only logos for your website — and it looks very nice.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes I do! I am an avid student at Lynda.com and take the online courses there if ever I need to check out new features or new software.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
My mother was an animator for Hannah Barbera, Depatie Freling, and Filmation when I was growing up, and she had a side business doing design for print. I used to get allowance money for helping her with technical drawings.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I designed a series of mobile device-specific product catalog templates for retailers including, Fossil, Free People, Alex & Ani, Swarovski, and Tortoise & Blonde. The authoring tool was proprietary to the Client, so I had to learn that quickly. From there the process included researching the brand, creating the template and the first collection of products, and onboarding the content for the first issue of the catalog. The authoring tool allowed for a finished piece in a fraction of the time it takes to turn around a catalog, and I was able to show a lot of versatility, designing in whatever style best suited each brand.
