Isaac was very professional and punctual. He and his team did a great job prepping the house for the paint job and replacing some boards with dry rot. When they started painting, the job was done in a day. The paint job looks great and I get a lot of compliments from my neighbors. If I have future painting needs, I will definitely hire Isaac again.

Kelly did a good job replacing a broken front entry door. Prepared the new door, drilling holes for locks, etc, and hanging the new door for a tenant in my apartment building. He showed on time went to work immediately. Went out of his way to provide a new deadbolt as the old one was unusable and did not charge me . Highly recommend Kelly.

I originally contacted Osbaldo for a bid on painting and I ended up hiring him for the job plus some! He painted the whole interior of our home, replaced our counter tops with granite, replaced our kitchen sink, and put up our beautiful backsplash in the kitchen. I can't thank him enough for working with my crazy schedule and for doing such a great job. He's very trustworthy, respectful, hardworking, takes pride in his work, and his quotes are very reasonable. He also communicated well from the beginning and that's one of the reasons why I hired him in the first place. I'll definitely be calling him for our future home renovations!

Rob and his installers at Cal Coast Window and Door are customer service and window extraordinaires. Our project had plenty to complain about, such as city permit issues due to out-of-the-blue changes to egress requirements, crazy out-of-level rough openings, and more. Regardless of the difficulty and strokes of bad luck, Rob and the installer, Victor, handled the situations with class and grace. Even after having to re-order two windows to meet the city's new replacement window requirements, the total project cost was still less than other quotes we had received. I highly recommend Cal Coast for your future window and door projects!

Michael and his crew did an excellent job on our kitchen remodeling. We have put in a lot of effort and investments into custom cabinets, granite counter top, and high-end appliances and we want the job to be done professionally. We interviewed 6 contractors and decided to go with Michael. We had the opportunity to review some of his previous projects and were very impressed with his creativity, workmanship, and level of detail. For our project, we had him raise the ceiling by 18” inches, move couple windows, install new windows and patio doors and reconfigure the kitchen layout. When it’s all done, the new kitchen looks beautiful and open. The only negative thing about the project was that it took a bit longer than the original plan. Michael was patient with us as we made changes to the plan as well as unexpected appliances late delivery. But that’s ok, we love our new kitchen. We are enjoying it everyday. Michael also went extra miles in helping me fixing a few small projects round the house. Overall I'm very pleased with his work and planning to have him remodel my master bathroom once I get my budget ready.

I needed someone to remove a window and put in a much wider window. Oswaldo’s price was very reasonable. He and his son arrived on time and in a few hours completed the job. I was very happy with the quality of his work that I hired him to do another job which he completed the next day. I will definitely use him again for any future projects.

I needed 7 pieces of furniture assembled in a very short amount of time, so I looked for outside help. Billy was on time and called before arriving (this is important for me since I don't like waiting for "long windows" with uncertain time). Also, he was very flexible and made sure that the appointment time was perfect for me. All in all, he is very straight forward, friendly and does a great job.

Kitchen remodel and other repairs and improvements: After ordering a Home Depot Quartz countertop and backsplash we hired Anthony to take out the old tile countertop and tile backsplash. He replaced the drywall, sink, disposal and pipe. In the kitchen he added additional electrical outlets, replaced the ceiling light and installed a dimmer, installed under cabinet lighting and a timer for our outdoor pole light. Anthony is a hard worker, trustworthy, reliable, friendly, honest and affordable. He communicated well. He also replaced our rusty patio gutter and downspout and replaced clapboard, fascia and flashing as needed. He drained our water heater and installed a sediment filter for all incoming City water. We will use him again in the future and will recommend him to anyone.

I own am old home and I hired Emanoil to replace the entire piping system of the house, the drain system, water heater plus I had him replace the old with new sinks, faucets, toilets. I also had him install a jacuzzi tub and a new shower. Emanoil was great, he was dependable, punctual and his knowledge and skill are amazing. He is a perfectionist. He helped us a great deal with the project by explaining all the problems he could foresee that would come up, discussing the choice of materials and offered solutions that not only saved us money but also made our home more "green" and efficient. It was a big project and we were so lucky to have him do the work and advise us. Everything turned out better than I had expected.

Excellent Customer Service!!!! I would recommend them to any of my friends, family, and clients!!!! The window source of SF is a great family-owned company that I have worked with on my home and with my business for years. They are my go-to for any window or door related repair or enhancement I need. On my last project they installed a custom over-sized sliding door from my master bedroom to the backyard. The project was on time and all promises were kept. They were professional and respectful of my home and space. The slider turned out beautiful and we will be using them for another project at our home in the near future. They are all great people too! Cassie Bobrow - Client and Real Estate Broker

The owner Nick have me a great price on cleaning my home and getting it ready to put on the market for sale. He cleaned my gutters, all windows inside and out, shampoo the carpets, pressure washed the outside of my house and got all the stains off. He had me check his work and made sure I was happy before he left. I will use him to move my things to my new place and any repairs I have, I will be calling him. He can clean and do almost any project I can think of, he is clean and very nice. I tried to tip him and he wouldn't take it. He wouldn't sell me anything or service we didn't need. He's a honest, hardworking person which is hard to find but I'm glad I did. They travel within a two hour radius of Modesto,CA which was great for our move. You won't be disappointed in going with Keeping It Clean.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

    • Trim repair:
      • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
      • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
    • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
    • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
      • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
      • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
        • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
