When my fiancee and I were in search of a pre-marital counselor, we didn't know what to expect. We just knew it was best practice to do pre-marital counseling, so we did. The minute we met with Kim for an intro session, she was a kind, comforting presence that was able to get both me and my partner to easily share - something rare for my partner. Throughout our time working with Kim, she helped us hone in on issues within our relationship while discovering things about ourselves - individually - that we didn't realize were negatively affecting us. What we loved most about Kim was that she didn't just talk us through every problem we were working to solve but provided us with tools that we will be able to use for years to come. In our sessions, Kim provided great counseling with a sincere intention to set our marriage off on a strong foundation of self-awareness and clear communication to build our relationship upon. Thank you, Kim, for all of your guidance and support!

I have turned to Yara for bodywork and shamanic healing several times with excellent results. I have also benefited from her coaching around intention setting and aroma therapy. Initially recommended by another healer I drive from Pebble Beach to Felton and it is definitely worth it. Be sure to book in advance.

We highly recommend Mike Garner for pre-marital counseling and officiating weddings. In our pre-marital counseling his goal was to not only guide us through the necessary conversations every couple should have before marrying, but to gently challenge us with life skills of what a marriage should look like. This was the key to our marriage success. We will celebrated 20 years this July. We are so thankful for the extra care and support he gave with us. I am positive with out the love and commitment he dedicated to us during the counseling sessions and ultimately 20 years of friendship we wouldn't be together this long. If you are looking for someone who is devoted 100 percent and is not afraid to be honest with you, Pastor Mike it the ONE!

I had an English tutoring session with Dr. Rita. The first two-hours session could be tiring, but she led the session pretty well and tutored me with passion! I will have a few more tutoring sessions with her to improve my language skills.

Illana was wonderful! She listened to our requests, and wrote a ceremony that fits us perfectly! Our wedding was romantic, spiritual, and incorporated our beliefs and showcased our love for each other. Illana included our friends and family in the ceremony -- everyone played a part. It was wonderful to work with Illana! We highly recommend her as an officiant and counselor!

I hired Payam a couple weeks ago to help with some endurance training and to help answer a few nutrition questions. He's a student and it shows because he discusses the details of the human body with a lot of interest, and he spends time with clients. I've worked with other trainers who just tell ppl what to do, but this guy actually explains the way a given exercise works, and why it helps. Try a session with him, if it's like mine then you'll be happy you did.

Kavita is my therapist, and I am so lucky that I found her because my life is transforming in ways I never could have imagined. I found her through a series of unexpected events. Long story short, I ran into an old friend, joined him for dinner with another friend of his, and his friend recommended Kavita based on something I said in passing. I'm so glad. I hate to think about where I would be now if I hadn't found her. I've seen therapists before, but it wasn't the same. I think that's because Kavita does way more than "talk therapy," and I feel like that's magically changing my brain. She also made a referral to a great couples therapist for my partner and I. All in all, life is looking so much better than it ever has before. If you're looking for a really intelligent, compassionate, and creative therapist who will help you change your life, reach out to Kavita.

Jennifer has helped me transform my life into a very satisfying and meaningful one. She uses therapy methods EMDR and neurofeedback that create dramatic change, rather than having to keep working through the same things week after week. I have also referred several friends to her, and she has transformed their lives as well. Jennifer has been a highly influential, nurturing presence in my life, and her insight and perspective have been incredibly valuable to me in my own healing and life journey. I highly recommend her to anyone who is lucky enough to see her.

    About

I work with people who are in crisis, women, men, adolescents, and children struggling against anxieties, panics, and/or self harm. I also work with people regarding parenting issues and family communication. I help people with healing through life adjustment struggles such as grieving the passing of a loved one, adjusting to the arrival of a newborn, and transitions into a new life path. I have over 20 years of specific experience in working with young adults.

    About

I am passionate about helping people to live more fulfilling, successful lives. So often, we get stuck in survival mode when really we were made to thrive. I specialize in couples counseling, working with teens and families, and in helping individuals work through trauma, anxiety and depression.

    About

Deep within each one of us is a vast intelligence that moves us toward wholeness. I am continually in awe of how effectively this guides the healing and awakening process once we learn how to listen to the dreams, feelings, body sensations, and life challenges that give clues as to where the healing wants to go next. My work as a therapist is to create a safe, supportive space for clients to open up, experience life as it is right now, and explore whatever is calling out for attention from within ourselves or from outer challenges. Often, we may need to make detours into past traumas that prevent a full surrender into the present. As old griefs, traumas, hurts, and losses are embraced and healed, inevitably, clients drop into the deepest grief of all: the abandonment of oneself. As this is grieved, then the unique expression of the essence of that person can be freed up to participate fully in life, to blossom like a flower. As French author Anais Nin wrote, “The day will come when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." This work is empowering to my clients as they connect with a flow of healing and transformation from within themselves, and learn new tools for living more fully: tools that they can carry into their lives long after our time together has passed. I have been a psychotherapist for over 35 years. During that time, I have helped clients with a wide range of issues. I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client's individual needs; my clients and I work together to address their goals and concerns, whether they are current life challenges or longstanding issues. I specialize in working with grief. Over a lifetime, we will experience many losses, not just the loss of loved ones, but the loss of a marriage, health, a job, our dreams, or a child when he or she goes off to college. Each one of us will be called on at different times to face losses, but will we embrace it or shrink from it? Most of us shrink from a loss, thinking that if we just keep busy, we can close our hearts a little to protect ourselves from loss. However, it is ungrieved loss that takes a toll on our hearts and deadens us to life. We pay a price in terms of our vitality, happiness and health. I offer unique and effective strategies for grieving fully without feeling overwhelmed. This includes experiential exercises for exploring the ongoing inner relationship with a deceased loved one. I have a masters degree in counseling psychology from the University of Santa Clara and a license in the state of California (since 1976) as a marriage and family therapist. I am the author of two books on grief: Losing a Parent and The Infinite Thread: Healing Relationships Beyond Loss. I have taught at University of California Extension, Santa Cruz, the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, and John F. Kennedy University. I have trained in the following: * Grief work with Stephen Levine * Family therapy with Virginia Satir and John Krop * Art therapy with Janie Rhyne * Dream work with James Hillman, Alice Howell and Charles Ponce * Women's sexuality with Lonnie Barbach * Bioenergetics with Michael Conant and others at the Northern California Bioenergetic Institute My 35-year meditation practice (mostly Buddhist) has enriched and deepened my approach to psychotherapy; this has enabled me to bring compassion, humor, patience, spaciousness, and balance into the therapeutic relationship. My teachers include Stephen Levine, Jack Kornfield, Goenka, Ruth Denison, among many others. I consider it an honor and a privilege to work with clients in this journey of healing, transformation and self-discovery. What rich resources for coming into our wholeness lie within each one of us, just waiting to be tapped!

I use the five layers or sheaths called Koshas that Yoga believes the self comprises of. The physical body that most consider to be the self is only the most dense layer. Subtler than that is the energy or pranic layer. Then comes the emotional-mental layer also seen by some as colors corresponding to different feelings. The intellectual/intuitive or the wisdom layer is next, more subtle and more expansive than the prior three and encompassing them too. Finally the bliss layer is the most subtle of all and it encompasses all the other layers and extends over and beyond them.

    About

I provide compassionate support and understanding in a comfortable and safe environment. I have successfully helped many people find relief from depression and anxiety and enhanced their relationships. Obstacles and challenges become opportunities for growth and fulfillment, while emotional pain and confusion become clarity and wisdom by incorporating the mind, body, and spirit in a practical approach to growth and change. Anger is transformed into compassion as we learn to see things without judgements and distortions. Fear dissolves into acceptance, allowing us to be fully alive and present to experience joy and happiness. I utilize an experiential mix of styles including cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, humanistic and family systems, blended with mindfulness practice. The process gently but effectively enhances your capacity to enjoy life, and resolves old traumas and hidden beliefs that keep you from living as a free human being. I bring to my work years of spiritual practice and meditation, as well as my formal education in clinical psychology. In addition, I am associated with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) as both a provider educator and a family to family educator, helping mental health staff improve their skills for working with individuals and families traumatized by mental illness, and helping educate families to cope with psychiatric illness.
