Introduction: EDITSWORK founder Samantha Giles holds a Bachelors in Social Work from San Francisco State and an MFA in Creative Writing from Mills College. She is the author of three books, the most recent of which, Total Recall (Krupskaya, 2019) won the California Book Award Gold Medal for Poetry. For the past 15 years, Giles has taught small writing workshops in a variety of settings and helped provide feedback to authors about their manuscripts. As and editor and ghost writer, Samantha is interested in bringing your creative work to its best possible realization. I work collaboratively and honestly, providing necessary critique and resources to help you generate the work that reflects your unique vision. I've helped authors working in a variety of genres: poetry, non-fiction, creative non-fiction and fiction and am excited to hear what you're working on!

Writing and Editing Services

I've worked with Samantha now on several articles. She has done an amazing job with both copy editing and "wordsmithing". I highly recommend her services!

Editing

I have been working on my book for almost five years. Finally I have it at a place ready for editing. Samantha is currently working on my drafts. She is nice person who actually wants to help. She is not in the project just because its a job. I feel like she actually is interested in my work. I did not just want to hire a mechanical editor who plops out my work without caring. Samantha is someone that I feel cares and wants to actually help. She is a good pick.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Most of my pricing is centered around the cents-per-word model, but each project is unique. I never want the cost of my services to be a barrier to you creating your best work, however, and am willing to discuss a variety of options to help us work together.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I like to chat a bit before I start on your manuscript so I can get a real sense of your dreams and insecurities about the work you're doing. That way, I can, along with my standard and experienced attention, lead with work that forefronts your goals for the final product. Once I've gone through a first draft (either editing or ghostwriting), we'll talk again before I make my final revisions. I value work that is collaborative and welcome as much as your input as you're willing to give to ensure your manuscript best reflects your voice and vision.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I hold an MFA from Mills College, have published three books of my own (one of which won the California Book Award) and have over fifteen years of working in literary settings from workshops, to presentation organizations, to colleges to presses.
