I requested bids through thumbtack for a concrete patio job and received quotes from 4 different contractors, of which Blake Carroll of Gold Star Concrete was one.
We agreed on an appointment date and time and he was punctual.
He came out and measured the area and went over specifics regarding what we wanted done, offered good insights and ideas about how to best do the job, and had a quote to me within a couple of hours.
His quote was middle of the road and I researched his work and it was evident that his experience and attention to detail were far superior to his peers.
I hired him and he was available to begin work in the same amount of time as the other Contractors (1 week).
The work started and ended on time and there were no surprises. Blake was easy to reach and responsive to calls, texts, and e-mails throughout the job.
Best of all, he does GREAT work!
I definitely recommend him and will call him first for future projects.

Blake and his team were efficient and professional from the day of first contact. He did everything per the contract and was easy to work with. Blake was hands on being part of the crew through most of the work. They matched the existing patio beutifully as if it was all done at the same time. Communications with his crew is easy in both Spanish and English, with many of them long term employees of Gold Star Concrete. They also provided suggestions and advice as they saw a better better way but did not proceed with anything until we, the homeowners were advised and approved. Working very productively allows Blake to offer short schedules (5 days for Large Patio and Paver additions) and very competitive pricing. Love our new Patio and Stone Pavers!

My sister and I each own a unit of a duplex that has connecting driveways. Both of our asphalt driveways were crumbling and needed serious help. After acquiring three quotes, we decided to
contract with Gold Star Concrete of Oceanside to replace the asphalt in the driveways and redo our front patios with concrete. Blake Carroll was prompt and professional when he met with us. He carried out our plan exactly as we wanted it and finished the work when he said he would. My sister and I both are thrilled with the finished product! I would highly recommend him.

Amazing service! We were in a pinch and needed a patio poured within 48 hours and he came through. Not to mention the quality of the work was A+. Will definitely use again!

Blake came and gave me a quote on Friday, and was there on Monday to do the job (it was a smaller job so that might not always be the case). He was professional, made sure I had all the information I needed to make a decision. His prices are fair and the work is quality. My back yard area was not a super easy place to figure, but he did a fantastic job. USE GOLD STAR CONCRETE! I will definitely call them for my next job!!
