Full Potential Martial Arts has a fun, friendly and informative martial arts class environment. The training studio (dojo) is very clean and beautiful. Brian, the instructor, is a fantastic teacher: enthusiastic, open-minded, and really connects with his students. He's able to adjust classes to people of all ages, sizes, genders, and experience levels! The students are all really fun people to work with and the location is very convenient, in a beautiful martial arts school just off the freeway in Carmel Valley.

I have looked into LA Boxing, Karate, Brazilian Ju-Jitzu and they all have the same feel but different techniques. Just show-up for the exercises, do your best while your here and we will award you for it with a celebration. I love Shen because it's all about me. If I want to get better I have to be the adult and make it happen. Take it with me to my home and learn it, live it and be one with the techniques. This is not for weekend warriors, it is for those that really want to transform who they are and become something they thought could not be possible on their own.

Training at Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu Academy has been extremely fun, challenging and fulfilling. Sifu Nick was able to take me through the basics to help me understand the principles of what I was doing, while progressively pushing me to build a solid foundation in Choy Lay Fut. If you are looking to learn Kung Fu and really be able to use what you are practicing for self defense, try a class with Sifu Nick at Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu Academy

I signed up to Mark's Dojo Americana after I moved my home & business to Oceanside. There were several locations I could have chosen as there are about 6 "fight clubs" along Coast Hwy. I checked out every single one of them. I wanted to know that I felt like I was in a comfortable environment for myself, and the many times I bring my daughter or nephew along. As I expected, several of the clubs were run by younger, brash, and stand offish characters. I won't name places, I'll just say that I'm really glad I stepped into Dojo Americana, and fortunately for me, Mark was there to greet me. I knew I was going to commit to his dojo within a minute of our conversation. Since then I've been part of 3 classes consistently. Mark trains a fitness class on Tuesday and Thursday I attend that incorporates fitness, self defense, some jiu jitsu, and kick boxing. Its great fun and all levels of students are welcome. I'm a huge boxing fan so I go to the boxing class also on tues/thurs in the evening. Again, all levels of experience and fitness. Javier, who teaches the class is very experienced and teaches you from square one. I've recently added another class on Mondays to try something new. Muay Thai with David. What fun that is! Its like taking Mark's fitness class, the boxing class, and using it all together, plus some new challenging training techniques. When I started at the Dojo I was an out of shape surfer that works every day, and didnt think I needed more than a surf a couple times a week. Once I hit my mid 30's I knew that had changed. I had gotten lazy and it showed on my body and mind. Now I'm 40 years old, more alert, work seems easier because my head is clearer, I'm surfing better than ever, and I've lost over 15 pounds just by showing up to a couple classes a week over an 8 weeks. I'd recommend Dojo Americana to anyone, male or female, any level of experience, in or out of shape, to use for their daily exercise routine. It has turned my life into easier, more energetic days, and very restful nights! Make the time for yourself, you'll be glad you did!

About

Our kid's karate classes are a great way for children to get fit and healthy. Martial arts training offers plenty of cardiovascular exercise and can improve flexibility and overall body conditioning. Qualified kid's karate instructors will give children the tools they need to avoid potentially violent situations or resolve them in a nonviolent way. While learning karate, self defense techniques are also taught, which gives them confidence in knowing that if a violent situation can't be avoided, they'll be able to effectively defend themselves.

About

USA Today: Sensei Fabiano Costa was born in 1975 in Maceio, Brazil. Early in his life, he started practicing martial arts. His first teacher was his uncle, Carlos Costa (watch his video), black belt in Kyokushin karate. At age of 9, he started training Judo, and a little later, Kung Fu. As a teenager, he had the opportunity to train with Eduardo Canuto (check out his YouTube video), who was the World Champion of Full Contact at the time. Later on, at age of 20, he trained Jiu Jitsu with Diojone Farias (check out his YouTube video), who was the Pan-American champion at the time. Although he practiced and was exposed to several different martial art styles, he became fond of Kyokushin Karate. Early on in his training, Sensei Fabiano participated in many local and national tournaments, most notable being 1st place in Northeast Open Kyokushin Karate held in Alagoas. In 2001, he moved to San Diego, where he met Sensei Adam Seydin from the Kyokushin Karate IKU association (check out his website), who soon became his teacher and a good friend. In 2009, after many years of preparation and training, Sensei Fabiano received his 2nd dan black belt from Kancho David Farzinzad (Sensei Kaicho), founder of the IKU organization (International Kyokushin Union-IKU) and the younger student of Sensei Sosai Oyama to receive 5th dan and the title of Kyoshi (title given only to 7th dan black belt master). In early 2010, Sensei Fabiano was 2nd place in the a open challenge tournament of Kyokushin Karate in Beaverton, Oregon. Today, Sensei Fabiano Costa has a 2nd dan black belt from IKU organization (IKU) and teaches at his Escondido, CA dojo, where adults, and children alike come to learn and enjoy the art of Kyokushin Karate.
