Introduction: I tutor any level of Spanish or English (Elementary-University level), as well as high-school German. I was an exchange student in Mexico during college which is where I learned Spanish. I love speaking and teaching the language and culture. I was also an exchange student to Germany during high school. My full-immersion learning process has allowed me to have a superior knowledge of both Spanish and German and I love sharing that gift with others! I am an outgoing, fun, and energetic person. I have an extensive amount of experience working with students of all ages. I began tutoring when I was in high school, and continued to do so throughout college. I worked at Disneyland for 12 years as a tour guide and private VIP hostess to families from all over the world, including celebrities, athletes, foreign dignitaries, and government officials. This allowed me to work with people of all ages on a daily basis. After college I continued to do in-home, private tutoring. I have tutored Spanish, German, English, ESL and music (specifically the flute). I also became a substitute teacher, where I taught several long term assignments, including 9th-12th grade English, as well as varying levels of high school Spanish. I am a very engaging, positive and encouraging person and I know I would be a great fit for your student in any capacity needed. I hope to hear from you soon!

Vanessa has been tutoring me for about two months, and I have never learned so much in such a short period. She has many tips and tricks to help me remember all of the rules of the Spanish language. She is a very kind and energetic person who is always willing to change her schedule to fit your own. I would strongly recommend Vanessa to anybody who needs help!

She is great! I was in need of a SAT english tutor in order to compete for a spot at the United States Military Academy at West Point. She showed up on time and if needed would stay extra to make sure I actually improved. I was extremely confident heading into my test and was accepted into West Point. I highly recommend her to anyone in need of any help with english. In addition, she helped me with writing a letter to West Point on why I want to attend. She is great!!!

As a freshman our daughter was struggling with Spanish II and ready to drop the class, in fact she was on the verge of receiving an F in the first semester. She was frustrated and miserable in the class. But before giving up we wanted to explore options. Would a tutor work or would staying late after school be the answer? We weren’t sure but we all agreed let’s do what we can and at least try and salvage the semester grade and credits. We were lucky enough to find Vanessa and she immediately made an impact. Her personality, teaching style and patience resonated with our daughter and with our family. She went above and beyond our expectations always willing to stay late or even to come in on days that we needed her to prep for assignments and tests. Not only did our daughter pass Spanish II but went on to complete Spanish III and Spanish IV (conversation) and finally passing AP exam for college credits as a Junior with the help and guidance of Vanessa. The experience this gave our daughter is priceless, not only did she teach her Spanish but she taught her by working hard and not giving up on a class and herself that she can do what she sets her mind to. It gave her confidence and a fresh outlook on life. We all looked forward to seeing Vanessa each week, she made learning fun and exciting. I would absolutely recommend her as a tutor. P.S. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am flexible with pricing and I try to work with any budget. Generally I charge $75-$95 per hour, as I do have a degree in the main subjects that I tutor (Spanish and German), as well as many years of teaching and tutoring experience. However, I price every student individually based on their needs and budget.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get to know my prospective clients and let them get to know me before we begin working together. I want to fully understand their needs before I create a learning plan and quote a price. I understand that there are several different learning styles and each person learns in their own way. It is my goal to make sure that I provide the best delivery for what my clients are looking for so that they get the most out of their learning experience. I am confident in my teaching abilities and my passion for languages is infectious which will be evident when we meet!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree (B.A.) in Foreign Languages and Linguistics. (Languages: Spanish and German). I have studied abroad and lived in a Spanish-speaking country and a German-speaking country with zero target-language knowledge before my arrival in either country. This gives me a unique understanding of what most students are experiencing while learning a new language, as well as how they need to learn. My full-immersion learning process has allowed me to have a superior knowledge of both Spanish and German and I love sharing that gift with others!
