Although I've known Raj since I was little, my husband met him for the first time over some "face-time" conversations, and then 2 days before the wedding. Geographically we were on completely opposite ends of the continent: FL and CA. But regardless of how far away we were, Raj was a guiding and calming presence in our planning. The most defining question he asked me during my planning was, "At the end of the day, when the flowers and decorations are picked, try to plan for the moment: how do you want to feel that day, in that moment, and what do want to walk away with?" I said those exact words to a friend that just got married this past weekend which helped her focus on what's important. Weddings can get crazy and chaotic, there's a lot of people in one place and emotions are high. My rehearsal was in the hot sun and everyone just wanted to eat, I'm sure! Raj had everyone get in circle and center themselves and their energy... my husband was really impressed with how he managed that and loved his presence from that moment on! In fact, everyone at my wedding, family and friends, all connected with Raj and loved him. He has an amazing way of reaching out to people. You will never feel judged or scrutinized, only lifted up and empowered for who you are. And at the end of the day, no amount of beauty came from the flowers, the cake, the photography... it all came from what we made it. Our anniversary is in 5 days and I look back remembering all his advice and guidance and he truly MADE it the wedding that we wanted, filled with love and happiness with our family and friends. We are so thankful to have had his presence and involvement in our wedding, it was a huge gift to us!

My husband and I had the pleasure of being married by Raj on the Big Island in Hawaii 2 years ago. After the wedding we were discussing how much we enjoyed our dream wedding but that our hands down favorite part was the ceremony that Raj did. We both thought it was the best ceremony we've ever heard at a wedding and it was OUR wedding! What a blessing! His mindfulness to both my husband and me as individuals and as a new couple and family (I now have 2 amazing step kids) was a gift to us to make the ceremony so personal and so spiritual. Raj obviously put a lot of thought and prayer into our ceremony which we will be forever grateful for. If you have Raj afficiate your wedding you be not be disappointed!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pastoral care/counseling services are on a sliding scale of $45 to $80 per hour. I do not take insurance.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am ordained with the United Church of Christ which requires a rigorous academic and professional fitness. I have studied at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley at both Pacific School of Religion and American Baptist Seminary of the West. I am a voracious reader of stories and theology. I also have a bachelors degree in counseling psychology.
