FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common thing that I work on is fixing behavioral problems. Some of the dogs come to their new owners with behavioral problems, but most of the time the behavior(s) start in the home and the owners wait to get professional help. Unwanted behaviors that the dog has got into the habit of doing(sometimes for years) are very hard to change. It is much easier to train the dog to know what we want than it is to try to fix ingrained behaviors that we do not want. Early training lets the dog know what is expected and that the owners are in charge. It also gives the owner's a resourse(the trainer) to go to if the dog starts doing something the owner does not want them to do. In that way things are addressed quickly and do not become a habit for the dog.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When looking a dog trainer always go meet and watch more than one in your area. Go talk to the trainers and ask questions, if the person is not open to questions, leave. Watch how the person gives a couple of classes, look for enthusiasm in the people and that the dogs are learning.
