CALM is a non-profit corporation engaged in the following kinds of services: - Confidential mediation, negotiation, and settlement of all types of disputes in or out of court (example: landlord-tenant, neighbor-neighbor, divorce/telationship, elder care, etc.) - Public education, awareness, and empowerment workshops, seminars, and speakers bureau (example: preventing violence in the workplace, management and supervision communication skills, etc.) - Diversity in the arts, demonstrating peace/community building - Mediator 40-hour certification training Before calling municipal ordinance enforcement, police, or an attorney, get a free CALM consultation. Together, we will help determine possible next steps based on your needs, goals, and interests. If one of our services doesn't fit, we're happy to provide you with a short list of pre-screened referrals. CALM's primary product is mediation, an informal process unlike arbitration which allows the parties themselves to decide the outcome based on their own ability to comply with the terms of their agreement. The mediator or mediator team will facilitate the process, but not find for or against either party. You retain the power. Mediation can save you time, money, and help keep the situation CALM -- saving everyone a great deal of stress. If applicable, once reached, your agreement can then be filed with the court, as in the case of parenting and custody agreements. You owe it to yourself to get your free consultation before becoming embroiled in the system, jeopardizing valuable business or personal relationships, or sinking your money into a long, drawn out, win-lose process. You owe it to yourself to learn how to get CALM. Services are offered on a sliding scale fee basis according to clients' ability to pay. Trained volunteers and public donations allow CALM to serve those who ordinarily would not have access to legal aid or other dispute resolution services.
