Rick was very helpful planning the job in advance over the phone before I'd even hired him. He made excellent suggestions and did excellent work. He also explained how to improve the set of the cabinets so his tile would look the best and last the longest. He didn't rush while laying it out. Everything was planned out with my input so there were no surprises or orphan tiles. Everyone who sees it praises the quality of the work. I love my countertop. But I will never understand why trade's people say they'll be there on a certain day and time and then completely blow you off. Even when it's the very next day. I took the day off work to be here so I could answer his questions as they arose and it was pretty annoying to have to contact him halfway through the morning to find out I'd lost a day's wages because he'd changed his schedule and couldn't be bothered to tell me. Also, I assume that when someone spends an hour discussing a job, looking at it in detail and produces a bid, that's it. It's not like anything changed from the day he bid it till the day he showed up (a week later than planned) but sure enough, he wanted more money to do a better job even though we'd already planned for the tile that covered that plywood that he suddenly seemed to realize was needed. Why I'm supposed to pay extra or accept lesser quality because he didn't bid it right is beyond me. I used to be a trade's person and I never treated my clients like that.
