FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
In general, criminal defense lawyers bill for their services with a flat fee typically paid in advance. There are no "billable" hours that is common among lawyers' pricing but instead the retainer fee covers most all court appearances, conferences with the prosecutors and/or judge, pretrial motions/hearings, contacts with the client and any other services which are agreed upon at the outset.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My first contact with a new customer is inevitably by phone as they were provided my contact by either a former client, friend or found it online. I encourage my new customer to provide a summary of their case and their needs to determine if I can in fact help them personally or if not, direct them to the right lawyer. If we determine that I can be of service to them, then I invite them to my office for a free consultation if they want or we can discuss the matter further on the phone.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My education that supports my work is what every lawyer should have: a law degree and maintain good standing with the California Bar Association. However, my experience and what I bring to the table is what makes me relevant and effective in my role as a criminal defense attorney. I have had the best training a lawyer in my field could have starting my career as a Public Defender. The wealth of training and experience in the courtroom working with a diverse clientele and varied caseload is unmatched in terms of preparation for criminal defense work. I continued my journey in the criminal defense arena in private practice where I could maintain my cases to allow substantial time to devote to my clients. My clients have unfettered access to me and are welcomed to stop by my office anytime. My long term relationships with the courts that I practice in gives my clients a sense of security and comfort that they are in good hands with me. My participation in professional groups such as TEN Esquire, the Rotary and involvement in local social groups keeps me informed and connected to the community and colleagues which ultimately serves my clients and their needs.
