FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My fees vary depending on the project. For smaller projects, we might negotiate an hourly fee; for larger projects, we might negotiate a word count, per page, or whole project fee. Developmental and content editing will cost more than copyediting, as the work requires a more in-depth evaluation of the content and detailed feedback.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, we get to know each other a little bit and how you prefer me to work with you. I'm very flexible, whether you want a back-and-forth editorial flow, working per chapter, or whether you prefer to discuss your needs for the project up front and then I take it from there. It's really up to you!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in education. I have been working in publishing professionally since 1993 for companies such as Simon & Schuster, McGraw-Hill, Corwin Press, Solution Tree Press, Creative Teaching Press, Scholastic, Lakeshore Learning Materials, FlashKids, Frank Schaffer, and Good Apple. I have worked both full-time and freelance, and my experience covers a vast array of skills, including development editing, content creation and editing, copyediting, proofreading, book coaching, writing, project management, and consulting.
