I started taking lessons at St. Francis Riding Club a few weeks ago and have nothing but positive things to say: the horses are well trained and treated well, the instruction is impeccable, and Oni is awesome. I look forward to going every week.
Great first lesson, my daughter learned so much about tacking and riding in one lesson.
I highly recommend this trainer and his methods. This past summer it was my job to take an untrained headstrong 3 year old mare (July) and turn her into a sound riding horse. I soon learned that I was in way over my head and needed help from someone with extensive training experience and past knowledge. That person was Bill Baehr. Bill worked with July and I from start to finish, first teaching excellent ground manners and respect of personal space, desensitization and trust, and finally the lesson that being ridden can be fun. July progressed quickly and before I knew it, it was time to lope her across open country. Amazing! I never would have thought that you could take an untrained, barely handled mare and have her learn so much so fast. Bill was not only extremely thorough and comprehensive, but he was unhurried and made sure we had the results we wanted before moving on to the next task. Riding an inexperienced horse can be scary, but I knew that Bill and I had done the necessary groundwork and I trusted him completely. By using proven training methods, Bill ensured the safest environment possible for me and my horse. Bill was also kind to the horse and very patient. The best part of the training was my direct involvement, and Bills belief that the rider/owner must have a hands on role. I pestered him with many questions about how and why things were done, and Bill patiently explained everything I needed to know. He would show me what to do and I would take over and do them, while he coached me every step of the way. Learning how to train from Bill was a privilege and I would love the opportunity to work with him again. I truely believe in his methods and would recommend him to any rider, trainer, or horse enthusiast.
Ann is an excellent mentor and is thorough and encouraging. I am enjoying every lesson (2 so far). I'm new at horsemanship so I haven't the experience/expertise to be more technical in a review. I am very very satisfied with Ann Simon. She'd be great with kids too!
I started riding with Natalie Rooney at Four Star Farm to improve my riding, primarily for dressage. Her lessons are consistently positive, and I come away feeling both myself and horse are iable to enjoy each other more fully. Natalie practices what I call compassionate candorproviding feedback that helps you to do your best and learn while not making you feel incompetent. She has a passion for horses and riding that is infectious and makes learning fun! If you have competitive goals--at any level--she works with you to develop a plan for accomplishing them. I am constantly astonished at the extent of her overall horsemanship knowledge, which she willingly shares. I also appreciate that Natalie invites stellar clinicians, such as Greg Best, Axel Steiner and Alfredo Hernandez, to Four Star Farm and encourages her clients to take advantage of their expertise. I can't imagine having a better experience and am so glad for me and my horse that I found her.
I've worked with a number of riding instructors over the years but never one that works so incredibly hard for every student. Emily has great skill for evaluating each horse and each rider and adjusting every lesson to fit that day & that moment in time. She is enthusastic & encouraging. You will leave each lesson with great tools & more knowledge and understanding of your horse and of riding then with most riding instructors. Emily works to create independent riders who can continue their training during practice rides and feel confident to do so. If you don't quite have that confidence yet, she will get you there. Under Emily's watchful eye I have grown so much as a rider and my horse is happier and more fit then ever before.
people in there are very kind! I arrived there at 11:30 and then met lady Michelle. She is very nice. They offered helmet and shoes, and it is totally safe to interact with the horse as long as you follow the trainer's direction. It is quite funny to learn how to brush horses and try to let them understand you. I spent a hole afternoon there, and tried to help Michelle curing her horse tommy who got a wound on his face. Highly recommend you guys to choose this place.
Holly Is the best instructor, they have cleaned up the barn so much and the horses are all amasing
We had gone to several barns/ranches trying to find a good fit for my 9 year old daughter. Jessica has been by far the best fit in terms of teaching about the basics of horse care, basic horse riding, and now training for shows. She is able to balance just the right amount of demands for my daughter to achieve success and mixing in praise where needed. My daughter's love of horses and riding has grown tremendously. As an added benefit my daughter general confidence in life has grown along the way. We owe a special thanks to Jessica.
Sarah, I would like to take lessons with you. Please e-mail me at email@example.com.
I started riding as an adult and looked for a program that encouraged the horse experience from the ground up. The trainers at Skye Valley Training gave me a strong foundation for my horse journey by helping me get to know how to properly care for a horse, learn how to ride it and appreciate horsemanship and the joyful relationship that comes with spending time on a horse. Ten years later I am riding on my own special equine partner and spending amazing times with my kids who are also riding and eventing throughout Northern California. Watching my kids grow and learn empathy and compassion as well as responsibility for their horse has been such a wonderful experience. All of us have acquire poise and confidence during our horse journey and it has been so much fun to spend horse filled weekends camping with the horses, watching my kids compete as a team, not only with their horse but with the other eventers or dressage riders showing alongside us. I didn't know when I started on that first riding lesson ten years ago that it would become such a passion and fulfilling part of my family's life. Skye Valley Training gave us the foundation by providing quality lessons, strong mentorship, fantastic lesson horses and a great barn atmosphere and friendly clientele. Adults and children alike will get riding lessons suited to the absolute beginner or to more advanced riders. The trainers also have experience in working with young horses, training you and your horse to the next level and provide a varied and extensive training program if you have a horse. World class clinicians come to our barn on a regular basis and our home barn schooling shows offer all riders show experience at any level. Our barn is fantastic as well, offering miles of trails, 2 indoor and 2 outdoor arenas for year round riding. You will not be disappointed if you start your horse journey with Skye Valley Training!

I am teaching horseback riding and equestrian knowledge. I have over 30 years of experience. I teach all ages and disciplines of riding. I have experienced teaching handicapped riders to ride with confidence.
I specialize in teaching beginners on how to communicate, trust, and ride horses. I teach both Western and English styles of riding, in a safe and comfortable way. I start all beginners on a line until they have the confidence and skill to control their own horse. We slowly make our way off line and into the larger arena. I do not allow my students to advance to the next level not until they have displayed proper control of the horse. I aim to provide a safe environment where humans and horses can learn, interact, and grow together by establishing a relationship of mutual trust and respect through the use of gentle communication.
We are teaching therapeutic riding to all ages and disabilities, and Centered Riding-inspired techniques to our abled volunteers.
I am a horse trainer. I will come to your facility to help you with your riding skills, horsemanship, and training. I have 23 years experience in training young riders and horses to level II dressage, combined training: training level, and hunter/jumpers (3'6), gaited exhibitions, as well as endurance rides. I have managed facilities and shows, and shown two in hand in driving competitions as well as driven sleigh rides. The basics of horsemanship are similar across the range of riding styles; students love working with me because they learn not only how to ride, but how to understand what is going on and be proactive, so problems don't happen. Horses succeed from patience, understanding and continuity. I teach from basics to finesse like a whisper, if you want to know how to communicate with your horse, so you are a team, then I would love to help you learn.
