FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I primarily edit speculative fiction. I provide substantive editing and line editing for clients, but also provide feedback on sentence and story structure, when appropriate.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
There is no substitute for a professional editor. Friends are obliged to "like" your work, even if they say they will be objective. Family are not trained to look at sentence, paragraph, and chapter order in terms of story flow. Neighbors will not judge word use in context to find the most appropriate phrasing for flavor. Although most writers do not have a lot of money to spend on their works, aside from a professionally-designed cover, a professional round of edits is crucial to any work's success. You have to spend some money on those two things.
