Vicki A. says, "We have been using Custom Concepts Construction for over fifteen years! We initially sought Jason’s expertise in painting our house and doing several repairs including tile work, electrical and getting all our walls back in order after re-piping our residence. We were so pleased with the work, that we had Jason remodel our family room, customizing it with beautiful built in cabinets including a bar area. The room is now very spacious and enjoyable and great fun for gatherings with family and friends! When my Mother passed away ten years ago, we hired Custom Concepts to totally remodel her Condominium. We were so appreciative of all the extra work this entailed for Jason, as another unit’s plumbing leaked into my Mom’s unit over one weekend. When we discovered the damage, it was extensive! We quickly called Jason and he came out immediately to mitigate further problems water damage can cause. He quickly pulled out all the carpeting and dried out the unit to eliminate any problem with mold or mildew. Several pieces of drywall had to be replaced. Even with this additional work, Jason completed the remodel, which included reconfiguration of the kitchen cabinets, the laying of wooden floors in the living/dining area, complete interior painting throughout, replacement of or refurbishing of counters in the kitchens and baths, minor plumbing repairs, replacement and modernization of all lighting fixtures and arranging for carpet installation and supervising the work. He accomplished this in a very timely manner and his results were beautiful! The property sold quickly for a price we were very pleased with. Since then we have required Jason’s services several times to do various repairs to our home and garden! He did a wonderful job in replacing our master bedroom flooring with tile that resembles wood and updating the bathroom fixtures. We appreciate his advice on all the painting projects he has done and continues to do for us! We so appreciate having a reliable contractor we can depend on for having all our home projects completed competently and in a timely manner!"See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do I find a good drywall contractor?

The best way to find a good drywall contractor is by searching for the top-rated contractors near you on Thumbtack. View their ratings, and read their reviews to see how they did on past drywall projects. Pay attention to the photos uploaded by the customers and contractors, so you can analyze their quality of work.

After you found a few contractors you like, ask them for price quotes. For more tips on how to hire contractors, read our in-depth guide.

Who do I hire to install or repair drywall?

A general contractor, handyman or a drywall contractor (or company) can usually install and repair drywall. It’s recommended that you call one of these types of pros when your drywall needs to be repaired, such as after a plumber or electrician has completed their work.

Look up local pros online and compare their profiles, paying extra attention to their ratings, reviews, experience and list of services. Contact three to five pros to get cost estimates for your project.

Do drywall contractors need a license?

Pros may need to obtain a license to fix and install drywall. It’s always worth checking with your local government about whether a drywall company or contractor has to be licensed before they work on your project.

Do drywall contractors do insulation?

A drywall contractor focuses on drywall. If you want to install insulation (or upgrade your existing installation), you should hire an insulation contractor. It's possible that your drywall contractor may be able to offer basic insulation services, but for more advanced insulation installation (such as spray foam), go with a professional who specializes in this.
