The kids at my daughter's 5th birthday party loved it. He brought little music shakers for all the kids so they felt like they were in a band. And great music to listen to as you're eating and hanging out with friends. Thanks Tucker

I've been taking guitar lessons with Kimberly since the beginning of 2011. At the time I'd had several years of lessons using a traditional method on acoustic guitar and was looking for a teacher who could help me focus on electric blues rock and move me beyond my intermediate skill level. Kimberly has a real focus on and talent for teaching. My lessons are tailored to meet my interests. A large part of the lesson is devoted to learning her method for blues soloing--at least 5 approaches to improvisation and comping. After several years, I've come to see how these approaches interweave, complement each other and have become an intuitive part of my musical vocabulary. Also, because I expressed an interest, part of the lesson involves sight reading, learning blues and jazz theory, developing rhythmic playing sense, and learning a few favorite solos. Kimberly has an amazing ability to tab out and teach any song you give her. Which leads to the best part--after 6 months I was invited to play with one of her ensemble classes. While I was absolutely petrified with fear at the beginning, this has turned into one of the highlights of my week every week. It is just downright fun! It's a safe and forgiving environment where you can make mistakes and learn, or try things out that might flop, or turn into something cool. Every teacher and guitar magazine article all point to the need to play with other musicians to develop your skills and this is where Kimberly Allison really delivers. I feel that I could now sit in with other musicians and contribute. I give my highest recommendation for taking lessons with Kimberly.

Best money we spent on our wedding! I can’t even tell you how beyond thrilled my husband and I are about the amazing job Tyler did performing at our wedding. It truly made our already special day beyond amazing! We wanted something that would get the party started right off from the ceremony to the cocktail hour. Can’t tell you how many people commented on how amazing it was to have Tyler playing saxophone. Tyler played keyboard during our ceremony. I am getting chills just thinking about it now, but the moment I heard him playing just before I walked down the aisle, the emotion of the day hit me like a wave. From our quick ceremony and onto the cocktail hour Tyler’s playing brought life to our guests and to us. Tyler was excellent at communicating both with myself, our DJ and our planner. He was so organized and thoughtful with our day! I don’t think I could thank him enough times. It was more than we could have ever imagined. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Tyler!! Taylor created a very professional, radio ready song for me. He works extremely fast and knows how to construct modern music that sounds like he hired a full band. The mix was fantastic music and singer alike. I highly recommend Taylor for your project.

We loved rock band Reckless. They have a great repertoire and well rehearsed. Voices and talents are excellent. I could not have asked for more. We hired them for a surprise birthday party and our guests loved them. Kim the band leader has her act together and responded promptly to any and all questions. Super easy to work with and a wonderful addition to your party. Would hire them again in a heartbeat.

I have worked with Bob on various levels. First, Bob provided me with private guitar lessons for several years. Bob made the learning experience fun and enjoyable. I was able to learn and play the kind of music that I wanted to play. Bob is also very patience (staying with me for so many years is a true testament to this!). My youngest son Michael also took private guitar lessons from Bob. On a more professional level, Bob and his band performed at my oldest son's (Bobby) wedding receipion. It was a "blast" with all of the guests dancing and singing. I actually received a call years later from an attending guest asking for Bob's contact information for their wedding reception (obviously they had very fond memories of the event and Bob's music). If and when my 2 remaining kids get married, I can guaranty Bob will be going the music. He makes an event a real party!!!

The John Brown Band played the Redondo Beach 4th of July Block Party and had the whole neighborhood rockin' out all night long. What a party!! After I heard them play, I knew I wanted to hire them for my wedding in San Diego on August 29. We had a great experience working with John and would recommend them in a heartbeat. The #1 comment from our wedding guests was how awesome the band was!! Upbeat song selection, dance-ability, and timing were perfect, even with no rehearsal on the Bridal Party Entrance!!! They even played a very special song (Harvest Moon) which I had totally forgotten to request - just perfect. And we got some GREAT pictures. :)

My son started formal drum lessons with Steve two and a half years ago. Steve set the bar on professionalism, flexibility, communication, and has the patience to teach music to younger kids. My son went from a kid banging on a toy drum, to a musician that could play drum set rhythms in an elementary school jazz band. We've had other instructors since Steve left the Los Alamitos area but none of them compared to his high level of attributes listed earlier.

I hired Ignition for my husband's surprise 40th birthday party and am so glad I did. Alex was very responsive to every text, email and phone call leading up to the event and accommodating of the type of music we wanted. The band was on time , very professional, very fun, and the music rocked. All of the guests commented on how great the band was and best of all, my husband loved them! I highly recommend them for a memorable private party. Thanks Ignition for making our party perfect!

Lucas is great! Equally at home with country, blues and gospel, as he is with David Bowie or Pink Floyd or classical or jazz or whatever. He is a ardent lover of many musical styles and an enthusiastic teacher! I got to learn by choosing songs I wanted to play, he took time to transcribe the chords and turn into valuable lessons. Great experience, great guy!

I have known Jennifer Deirmendjian for 12 years now and worked with her musically on solo projects off and on as well as performances in bands. She plays and writes violin beautifully. I have learned so much from her musicianship in rehearsals on a professional level more than anyone I have ever worked with. She is patient, kind and disciplined. I highly recommend her teaching experience as she has been my mentor and inspired me in so many ways!

Emma sang at my wedding. She's not only gorgeous, her voice is also fantastic and powerful. She sang a capella as well as with a band and both performances were awesome: tear provokers and dance instigators. I'd recommend her any day.

    About

With their debut album receiving notable acclaim, this acoustic quintet is already making waves as one of the few true crossover bluegrass bands. Recent main stage performances at the Northwest String Summit, Mateel Summer Arts Festival, and Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest have cemented Hot October as a SoCal favorite as they prepare for their 2018 tour.    While it might not be that uncommon for a bluegrass band to have all five musicians singing in harmony, what sets this group apart is the clear and apparent virtuosity of each individual working towards the greater composition. Lead vocals, traded by Paul Fuller (Banjo) and Jesse Olema (Fiddle), are supported by a masterful rhythm section. Craig Ferguson (Mandolin & Dobro),  Sasha Birrittella (Guitar), and David Tranchina (Upright Bass) work together seamlessly creating a deep rooted pocket while trading sweeping, flat-picked lines for David’s unmatched bowed solos. Yes, the groups collective improvisations are something to be marveled at, but what is most exciting is seeing where the new generation of bluegrass music is headed, and looking at what Hot October is bringing to the table, let's just say that it's a very exciting time to be a bluegrass fan.
