I will always CALL LIZ FIRST.
Liz helped me out of a pinch ! I needed a particular shot for the cover of a single (song) I had just recorded. I needed the perfect photo ASAP and I wanted LIZ to shoot it b/c her phenomenal history as a musician/performer she would help her intuit exactly what I needed.
HOWEVER, Liz needed to get on an airplane early the next morning!! She was headed to a music event back east and would be away for almost two weeks.
What to do!?
I WANTED LIZ to shoot it.
SO- she cheerfully agreed to shoot the picture.
We exchanged concept ideas by text, I gathered my wardrobe et al and to save time I looked around for the most fitting location for the song. Liz is masterful at finding locations.
We decided to shoot near magic hour so she orchestrated her final packing* for her trip around that. ( *packing included 5 huge suitcases of her MERCH for her band- no small task).
THEN LIZ arrived an hour before Golden Hour with her camera equipment and we got started. I had an original concept to shoot at my front door but LIZ saw the way the low light hit my side patio so we reconnoitered the concept and just got to shooting. LIZ shoots quickly with a sharp eye for detail.
We got the basic shots we wanted and then Liz walked around my property and we just shot every conceivable setup that we thought would be good for the PHOTO for my song.
We got it all IN the CAN. Within 90 minutes we had what we needed. We had more than we needed!! lots of choices.
Liz headed back to her pre-trip schedule and before midnight she had sent me all the photos she and I agreed were 'keepers.
I was then able to take my time going through them to see how best to use 'the one' for my song,
Liz is a high energy, force of nature. She is punctual, prepared, had great cameras and lenses and a positive attitude seeing the possibilities rather than any obstacles..
She is also fun to work with -- she gets the job done but in a fun relaxed way. Spontaneity and feeling comfortable is the key to getting good photographs!
