Jake was the 1st person to respond to my job request before 7am. He immediately gave me a quote. Within 72 hours he scheduled job and completed the job within 3 hours including a Home Depot errand he ran for me whereas I ran out of materials. The Darling Flooring recently completed a remodel for us that included three floor-to-ceiling fireplaces and a built-in indoor grill, and overall we’re very happy with the finished product. To be transparent, our experience was a mix of highs and a few frustrations. What could’ve been better • He typically arrived at 9:30am • He didn’t always stay until 5pm • The project did not finish within the original estimated timeline What we loved • The workmanship was exceptional • His experience and expertise clearly showed • He stood by his work and came back after completion to address any issues • Most importantly — we’re extremely happy with the final result Jake is not your typical contractor. He doesn’t rush, which can be tough if you’re on a strict deadline — but it’s a huge advantage if you care about the details and want things done the right way. He’s honest, direct, and gives you his real opinion, which we appreciated. The main reason we hired him was because of his creative, artistic perspective, and that ended up being the biggest difference-maker. These fireplaces weren’t simple projects — the micro-cement finish required someone with skill beyond a cookie-cutter approach, and Jake delivered. Everything came out clean, modern, and exactly the look we were going for (I attached a picture of the fireplace in our master bedroom). He also went above and beyond by helping with things outside of basic fireplace work, including mounting our 85” TV, doing electrical work to hide cords, and hanging the mantel, which we really appreciated. If you need a job done fast, I’d recommend going with someone else. But if you want high-quality work, a creative eye, attention to detail, and someone who will stay within budget and stand behind their work, The Darling Flooring is absolutely the way to go.
