I’ve analyzed over 12,000 business plans, advised 100’s of business owners, & have helped oversee over $250 million of investment capital into innovative founding teams and businesses across the U.S., Europe and Asia. I’ve been a Silicon Valley venture capitalist, technology advisor, startup founder and CEO. Further back, I’ve also studied business, finance, entrepreneurship and negotiation at Columbia Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Over the past 20 years, I have had the opportunity to build my own teams, sit on boards of directors, as well as become a trusted advisor to CEOs of multimillion dollar businesses looking to grow. I’ve pitched billionaires ranging from consumer and retail titans, to the oil minister of Saudi Arabia. Most often, I am asked to provide advice around long-term strategic planning/business plans, tactics, growth, negotiation, investment, overall operations, tech decisions, hiring and governance (do’s and don’ts of setting up a board, difference between boards of directors and advisors, etc). Whatever your question, challenge or objective, I have probably seen other companies live through similar obstacles, and come out stronger and more competitive on the other side. And if I can’t help you, I can probably suggest someone who can. In order to give my companies enough of my time, I limit my advisory engagements and board directorships to no more than 5-7 at any one time.
