FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I continue to attend educational workshops when they become available at my wholesale provider's warehouse. The last educational event I attended, I was a VIP at the Teleflora workshop where we learned new trends and new techniques. I will be attending another workshop this coming fall as well.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had my first job at 15, and was still going to school. I had 4 boys by the time I was 22 and even though my original dream career was to be a wildlife veterinarian and had volunteered in the surgery room at our local animal hospital, I realized that what truly made me feel at peace was working with flowers. When I was little, my mom always made sure we took time to stop and look at the different flowers, and she even taught me which weeds we could actually eat, giving me appreciation for what others don't understand. Did you know that you can eat dandelion leaves, purple clover flowers, pepper grass and fairy bananas? Did you know that some fancy caterers use real (candied) violets as decoration? ! My mom taught me to appreciate the beauty of what's in front of us every where we go no matter how rough the day has been.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common types of work I do for my clients is take the time to meet with them at my local wholesale provider. I love to walk through the cooler so they can see and smell first hand what they have seen in photo shopped magazines. I'm a very realistic person and prefer to be upfront and honest, I much prefer my clients get a realistic visual of what they will be getting on their wedding day before the photo shopped pictures.
