The heart of this studio is owner/engineer James Hobson. He brings his years of experience as an LA studio session player to Marin West. His skills as an engineer and editor are impressive. His production skills are exceptional, and he has an uncanny ability at outsourcing the perfect musicians to complement a project. I am in the process of putting the finishing touches on my fourth album with Marin West, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results:

James Hobson is also available as a drummer for your project, and is one of the top drummers in the SF Bay Area. He has a ton of connections with local bass players. This makes putting together the right rhythm section for any project a snap. He has access to a huge array of vintage mics as well as an impressive house collection. The studio grand piano has a beautiful sound, and should please the most demanding pianist. James will work close with you at all stages of your project from concept to shrink-wrap. The beauty of this studio is its flexibility and extremely reasonable rates. Marin West has a funky relaxed Marin feel, and is a great place to be creative. In the Bay Area this place is hands down the best bang for your buck.

It's been my pleasure to have worked with Jimmy and Marinwest Mulitmedia at least a few times. While the bands have been different, Jimmy has helped us to put down tracks that we have been extremely pleased with. His tremendous engineering skills, fine ear for detail, and extraordinary work ethic have helped produce great music.
That said, the intangibles are equally important. Each session has been treated as an "event" and has been made extraordinarily fun. This is quite the accomplishment considering the potential for pressure in such an industry. Jimmy's personalized touches and relationships he established with each musician helped contribute to the excellent results. I strongly recommend Marinwest Multimedia for any production services desired.

I have recorded four CDs with middle school combos and one CD with an adult jazz band at Marinwest studio. It is invaluable to have Jimmy's guidance, as he is both a talented musician and recording engineer. Each of our recordings have been high quality, and Jimmy has the patience and skill to make sure the process is done in the best possible way. The studio contains an excellent grand piano (rare these days) as well as an isolated drum booth. While the space is small, we have successfully recorded our middle school combos with up to 8 students. I would highly recommend Marinwest studios to anyone who wants to produce a top quality recording in a relaxed and supportive environment.
